Some Artists concentrate on making good albums and their music is best Enjoyed that way(Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Yes, etc). Others mostly concentrate on making singles( A flock of Seagulls, Most modern R and B groups, Most Rappers, etc. And there are even a few who did both (XTC, prince, the Kinks). My suggestion is to research a group your interested in and buy the product accodingly. allmusic.com is the best place to start.

AMG is a great source - I love it. They're reviews are 95% on the nose in describing an album for me. And I agree with you on the albums. GH compilations are filled with songs I've overheard already, so I almost always look to albums to find some more gems and in a lot of instances I find songs I like a lot better than any of the singles they released, songs you would never find on a greatest hits compilation.

They are one of the top bands because they are f***ing talented as hell.

Radiohead, talent wise and song writing wise, is better than 99.9% of the "artists" that plague the current top 40 playlists.

I won't argue there. I can't stand to look at music charts anymore, because its just amazes me whats considered great music anymore. I do give Radiohead respect in that they are talented in what they do, unlike many many others out there.
