    FiOS Questions and Installation

So a while back I made some posts looking for questions about FiOS.

Today we got a new FiOS representative and found out I can set up anyone in the country with FiOS from my work.

So anyone interested in FiOS and anyone with questions on the service can ask me here and I'll forward the questions to him or get you activated with service for yourself.

I will once I move back to Boston in July. But I don't think Fios is available there.

Is it anywhere near you? If so it could get there soon. I should be able to get info on when it will get into certain areas.

Any direct suburbs of Boston have it, or gonna have it in the next couple months?

              Everett
              Malden
              Somerville
              Revere
              Quincy
              Chelsea

              Like those cities...

I live in Waltham, MA (about 10 miles west of Boston) and Verizon has been very aggressively pushing FIOS around here. They got me to sign up with door-to-door sales. The sales rep offered me $200 in an American Express card and $150 credit on my first bill. Plus, it's a little less than I was paying for Comcast, so it was a no-brainer.

I'm surprised to hear it's not available in Boston yet. I've definitely been seeing a lot of Verizon vans in my neighborhood, so I think they're doing well around here and would expect it to expand.

I love it and don't miss Comcast at all.

When will I be getting more than 6 useful HD channels and why do they use such a terrible wireless router when you have FIOS t.v. I like both the internet and the t.v., just wish I had a better wireless router and more HD channels.

I'll send an E-Mail out tomorrow asking about those locations. As for the router issue, I'd probably say buying your own router would serve the best purpose.

The HD channels could be location based. I'm pretty sure they have more than 6 HD channels.

The reason its everywhere outside of Boston, but not inside is due to Comcast mostly. They have to go into each city and town, and then come to agreement with them to get the service in there. Which is part of the reason why, at least in MA, the smaller towns have it while a lot of the larger cities are stilling waiting.

Not as far as I know, but it's been awhile. Last time I checked the closest it got was Chicago and Dallas, both 8 hours away.

I just wish we could get it, because then I could get rid of TWC, get Direct-TV, and be a happy camper.

I get a good bit more than 6 channels in HD! Also, I don't know what your issue is with this router, I think it's great, have had no issues with it whatsoever.
