Extremely sad news. As a journalism student I've always looked up to Russert and how he handles himself. I've watched Meet the Press since probably before I could even understand the topics the show discussed. Great journalist and a great man as well. RIP.

Wow, it speaks volumes about this guy's character when a whole thread can go by with only positive things said about him. I'm not into politics and I don't watch MSNBC really, but I knew Tim Russert was a Bills fan and it did surprise me that he had died. Sad day. I feel for his family.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

As often as I watched Meet the Press, I still could never pick up on his own political beliefs. That should tell you how good he was at his job. He knew his job wasn't to give his opinion on every little thing like most TV hosts these days.

He was such a brilliant interviewer and who knows when we will be treated to another great like him. R.I.P.Comment

 Re: Tim Russert passes away

you know he was a well liked person when the other news corps (CNN, FOX Noise) spend a significant amount of time on the story. would MSNBC do the same if wolf blitzer suddenly passed away?Individuality: Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else.

Not as much but quite a bit of time would be devoted to him and Bob Schieffer, Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, etc., but remember the shock of this situation drove the story, because the guy was so young.Comment

Exactly. He was one of the few journalists one could really say that about. Always neutral, and I really respected that the most.As often as I watched Meet the Press, I still could never pick up on his own political beliefs. That should tell you how good he was at his job. Re: Tim Russert passes away

Very poignant tribute to Tim on Meet The Press with Tom Brokaw hosting many of Russert's friends including a remote feed to Maria Shriver. Of note was Tom Brokaw opening the show saying "Thou shalt not weep or cry this morning. This is a celebration." earlier referencing Tim's sign in his office that said "Thou Shalt Not Whine," Midway through the show friend Mike Barnicle told Brokaw that he may not be able to comply with "not crying" but in the end it was Brokaw that broke down with about 10 minutes left in the show. A closing montage was accompanied by Springsteen's Thunder Road.Comment

 Great tribute!

This is a great loss for his family and millions of Americans...

Its unfortunate that he wont be around for one of the most exciting times in politics(for better or worse) because he thrived during times like these.Comment
