In general I would agree with you. However this case did have some interesting circumstances. For example, the girl that the prosecutors contended was getting boned by R. Kelly in the video claimed that it wasn't her. There was also some doubt circulating about the actual video - if the man in it was R. Kelly. Now I haven't seen the video but I've heard that it looks a lot like R. Kelly. But the jurors have to be certain beyond all reasonable doubt that it is him to convict.

Did he probably do it? Yeah. But that's not the burden of proof that we have.

Listening to Chicago radio last night was great. They played R. Kelly songs all day and night, people were calling in crying they were so happy. It was like a holiday here.

Re: R. Kelly acquitted of all charges

I haven't seen the tape or know all the circumstances surronding the trial. I also really don't care. It's LA and Hollweird stuff like that happens more than we will know. As far as the US legal system. I look at it like this. I remember there was a saying..."It's better to let 10 guilty men go free than to have 1 innocent man found guilty." It's flawed logic but it is also why we have one of the best legal systems in the world.

And to the statements about eyewitness testimony. How many people are freed everyday because of DNA evidence, despite the fact that there was an eyewitness to the crime.

In this case there were 2 "eye witnesses".

Personally I do think that he did this, but that is my personal opinion and I would've said as much during "voi dire". The whole situation is another example of how having money affords you the best defense money can buy. No way he has this many continuances with a public defender. My $0.02.

More evidence and testimony than you could imagine has been heard, examined, and evaluated by each and every one of them, and they came to a decision.

And now, after reading a couple news articles on the subject, you've decided that you must know better than all twelve of them.

Don't take this personally J0hnD0ugh, this thread has just frustrated me because everyone here thinks they know so much more than the people who were actually in the courtroom.

(Don't get me wrong, I don't think R. Kelly's innocent either. But if he's not proven guilty in a court of law I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.)

            Hmmmmmm............ever heard of O. J.?

the justice system is messed up, there is no such thing as "innocent" or "not guilty", just "guilty" and "got away with it" guilty.

Thank you. This is what Ive been telling people all day. I think he was guilty but he had the alleged girl denying that it was her, family members saying it wasnt her and one of the prosecutions top witnesses admitting to attempting to blackmail Kelly if he didnt pay 300,000. There was plenty of reasonable doubt in this case.

This justice system is a joke in so many ways just like so many other things in this world nowadays. Could careless what songs he made and how many platinum records he sold. I know where the man belongs.......

Yes because you would have had a cheap lawyer just like me. He has the money to pay a firm to fully investigate the case and find reasonable doubt. This acquittal had nothing to do with fame or celebrity and everything to do with having the money to get good attorneys.

I remember my dad telling me something similar to this when OJ was acquitted. It wasn't a black or a white thing, it was a green thing.
