Re: What Do You Guys Think Of This?
USA has no problem when people born in other countries plays for them. I don't see why they would whine about one of their own playing elsewhere. People calling her a traitor are largely hypocritical.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. I don't think I would do it and I don't fault her for doing it, but I kind of see other peoples points...to a point.
I think when most American's dream of being in the olympics, they dream of wearing the red, white and blue and standing at the podium while the Star Spangled Banner plays. It's an honor to play for your country. If you aren't perceived as good enough to represent your country, do you go out and shop around for a team that will take you?
I don't think it's the same honor to play for any country that will take you after you fail to make your country's squad.
In reality, isn't she just whoring her self out to whoever will take her?
I think it'd be more accepted if she actually was a Russian citizen and lived in Russia and was part of their culture, I understand from that article that she does play professionally in Russia when not in the WNBA, but how often is that?
If you truely feel like you are a member of that country, then go for it. If you're just trying to win an Olympic medal for anyone that will take you, then it's different to me.Last edited by Trevytrev11; 06-17-2008, 11:01 AM.Comment
