Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4??
I've heard this song for years now and it's actually grown on me since WVU's band plays it sometimes at football games, but anyway does anyone know what this song is about? I heard it on XM this morning on my way to work and it made me wonder again, what in the world are they talking about?Tags: None -
Re: Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4??
According to wikipedia:
Meaning
Chicago fans have long argued about the meaning of the song. When it was released, there was speculation that the lyrics were drug-related; but the same thing was said about many songs in the late 1960s and early 1970s and the rumor has been largely dismissed.[1] Lamm himself says that the title is "just a reference to the time of day," and that "the song is about writing a song. It's not mystical."[2] The time of day in reference is 3:35 AM (or 3:34 AM), which would then be 25 (or 26) minutes to 4 AM. Lamm was not above perpetuating the mythology of the song, though. In one interview, he referred to the song title as "a cricket score."Comment

Thanks for the info. Still confused but at least it offers some meaning to consider. LOLComment

I always thought it was about a guy who's awake at 3:35 or 3:34 AM (hence the title). The lyrics match that situation pretty well.Comment

That's stretch Matrix.... it's not a different version of the song. It's just LZ going a little Vanilla Ice before Vanilla Ice. Besides, Chicago (TA) was pretty innovative at the time mixing their style in with their special blend of horns.
This seems like a pretty cool site: http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1197Comment

Yeah I know, it's not a full on cover, but I still like that sample more with Zeppelin. Chicago's style is awesome too.Comment

The best fact about the band Chicago, is the original guitarist shot himself in the face in front of his wife and kids. The story I heard was he was messing around and didn't know the gun was loaded. Always nice to leave your loved ones with the image of blowing your brains out.Steam: BahnzoComment

From Yahoo answers entry: From the time of their debut album, "Chicago Transit Authority", until the tragic death of lead guitarist Terry Kath, there really was no designated lead singer. This role was split up between Kath, bassist Peter Cetera, and keyboard player Robert Lamm. Cetera's roll as "lead" singer came full forward after the huge success of "If You Leave Me Now".Comment
