    water powered car

    Is this possible?

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jivb7lupDNU&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jivb7lupDNU&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

If this is true and it came over seas, instead of oil problems it would lead to water shortages.

Wow, that is pretty cool. Hopefully the technology will make its way into a mass-produced model sometime soon.

It's a hydrogen cell it seems, so nothing really new there. So unless you have a million bucks for it, I doubt there's gonna be any mass production anytime soon.

There are cars that run on air. Problem is that all these alternative cars are so small, unsafe, slow, and expensive. The car needs to be able to transport at minimum 4 people, with some stuff in the trunk, travel atleast 100 miles without needing to refuel with whatever makes it run, and be able to travel on the highway, so ~75 mph.

When they can make a car do that for $20,000-30,000, everyone will buy one. Until then, now one will buy one.

AND IT'S GOT A FIBERGLASS AIRCOOLED ENGINE AND IT RUNS ON WATER MAN!

On a serious note, p_rushing is absolutely correct.

In India, they've started production on an air powered car that gets 200 miles to a tank of compressed air.

Great idea, why don't we start producing these in America?!

Well, the car is put together with glue (I'm not making this up) and would get absolutely mauled in a collision. Super-efficient cars aren't super efficient because their creators are so much smarter than those at GM, Toyota, Hondo, Mercedes, and the elite Euro-sports cars. They're super efficient because the cars are light enough that you could pick them up.

And for those that don't realize it, water is a far more important resource than oil, and yes, water can and will run out. There are some parts of our country where underground water is at very low levels, and the third world would literally be destroyed if water was made not only the most important resource but the most valuable. A water crisis would be incomparable to the current "oil crisis." Instead of "blood for oil", you'd see entire populations systematically murdered to lessen their water usage.

How could we run out of water? The earth is 60% water. Sure, if we fueled these cars with pure drinking water, that might be a problem, but it said in the video it can run on any type of water. So we could just pump water directly from the oceans and use that. There's no way to run out of unfiltered water.

I can't imagine you can burn thousands of gallons of unfiltered saltwater through an engine and have it continue to work.

When you factor in the sheer volume of water that would be used, you could seriously put a dent in the water usage.

On a planet that is 70 percent water, people don't have enough clean, safe water to drink. We're in a water crisis, and water rights are becoming a big issue. What happens if we just plain run out?

Well, the video says it works with all kinds of water, "river, rain, or sea" and even tea. It's not like their just pouring water into a traditional engine, so I'm sure that saltwater wouldn't do any damage.

We could definitely run out of fresh, clean water, but never water in general. Even if someday every automobile ran on water, the ability to use water from rivers, lakes, oceans, rainfall, etc. would more than be enough to power auto transport.

Most people are lazy and will use their normal drinking water than to go out and use water from another source. If that is the case our drinking water would be depleted leading to water shortages.

It doesn't even have to be laziness. What are non-coastal states going to do when someone offers the local government a ton of money for their water? What's the incentive for the Big 10 states to not use the Great Lakes?

Believe it or not, earth is running out of water. You guys think that you have endless amounts of water, but everyone should pay attention to the amount of water they use. It's very common in my country, however it's relevant to you guys too. Don't waste water.

Actually, it's not that we're losing water we're losing DRINKABLE water. Most of the water on earth is far too salty for human consumption. You do make a very good point though as a lot of the water loss is coming from lakes, rivers and even some seas.

I've heard futurists for the last few years say how the wars of the 21st century will be fought over water.
