    same as LCD.
Yeah but LCD, as I understand can be repaired or replaced to run further than the lifespan of the original unit, whereas plasma cannot.

Lots of games these days also have cutscenes to break up static images.

For your price range, I'd probably look at a LCD though. I have a Westinghouse LCD that I've never had any problems with. It's a about a $100 over your price limit, but Best Buy has a 42" Westinghouse 1080p LCD for $899 but you can use a 10% coupon and get it for about $820.
Man that tv looks like booty. Im all for the bargain but I'll be honest... of all the tv's they have that one looks bad enough to stand out from all the others, name brand and generic. Stay away from this one.

Westinghouse isn't generic. It's actually a great set. I don't own it, but know people who do.

EDIT - nevermind, I get what you're saying. Yeah, it's not the prettiest casing ever, but it's a great picture FWIW.

Uses name brand parts for the screen and other parts inside, they just it in a cheaper housing. I believe its a Best Buy brand or was.

Or another way to think about it:

You can leave your TV on for the next 12-13 years. By then, you will be looking for the newer stuff like:

              1) 4 dimensional sight and sound.

              2) The Samsung Mega Max 400 inch 40,256 by 13,860 PIOME with true flavor smell.

                How are Vizio plasmas? They're selling a 32 inch for 650 and a 42 inch for 800.

Vizio makes better LCD's than plasmas from my experience. Their LCD models should be about the same prices.

As many others have said, the 2 competing formats are so similar, you can't go wrong with either one. Both have advantages and disadvantages over the other, but either will look awesome and give you a great picture for a long time. I'd go LCD/Plasma over DLP any day of the week, but that's me.

Nah, I wasnt calling Westinghouse a generic brand, im saying there are some generic brands out there like AKAI for example.

Check the reviews on Bestbuy.com about that Westinghouse and you'll see. I went to see it for myself and that tv looked like complete garbage. It was the worst one on display, the lighting looked more like a yellowish dim than a white compared to all others.

P rush, Westinghouse is not the BestBuy brand tv.

It going to come down to what you prefer. There are pro's and con's for both tv's. Personally, I have a Panasonic plasma and love it. I game on it as well as watch BD's and I've had no burn in. I've had the tv for almost 2 years now. Here's a pretty good article on cnet about deciding which tv is right for you. Maybe it'll help with your decision.

No one noticed that I posted the correct information?

It's the equivalent of having your tv on for 11-12 years.

And as a previous poster pointed out, you'll be looking for a new tv long before a Plasma or
                          LCD's lifespan become an issue.

                            I've never heard that.

Do you have a link to this?

Even if it was the case, how cost effective would that be?
