    Fear Itself (Tv series)

I searched and could not find an existing thread, so I started this one.

It is on Thursday at 10pm est. on NBC. There have been four episodes so far, and I believe 13 episodes total are planned. Each episode has a new director, some well know. Each show also has a new cast, and usually some actors are recognizable.

The show is an hour long horror show. Horror by network standards so not too much blood or gore. IMO it has some good stories and plot twists.

The episode "In Sickness and in Health" on Thurday June 26th was pretty good.

It's essentially Masters of Horror season 3. It got dropped from Showtime, so the team went to NBC with it. The best one so far was the family man one. Amazing episode.

I saw the In Sickness and In Health one on Thursday, it was pretty cool. I also happen to like "Psych" and two of the stars from there were in that ep (James Roday and Maggie Lawson, why I happened to watch when I stumbled on it). I've got it set to record, I like the thriller/horror type stuff they're doing.

I thought "In Sickness and in Health" was crap. Why was she afraid of him when they were in the church?
"Family Man" was a great episode.

I took her fear to be a real fear that he was a warped killer himself.

So my girlfriend and I are in disagreement over "Sickness and Health."

I say it was the girl that was the serial killer. She says it was the brother. What do you guys feel?

Also, I thought "New Year's Day" was good. More blood and gore than any of the others.

I was interested at first. Watched 2 episodes so far and they both about as generic as they come (one about some vampires, the 2nd was some girl waking up to a zombie outbreak).

I thought the director idea was neat - having different people do the story each week. But when it came down to it - the stories are all just absolutely as generic and cliche as can be and just aren't worth the time.

Really, though, this show is as good or bad as the horror genre today. I guess I'm not so down on Fear Itself when I realize that most horror movies are just the same.

And with horror movies I spend two hours of my time and a rental fee, because I don't go to the theater to watch them. At least with this show, the point is being made in an hour and I get to watch it on NBC and the only price I'm paying is for cable.

My wife and I watched "New Years Day" last week, which was a copy of the Night of the Living Dead.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud at some of the scenes. It was very poorly acted and the whole show seemed to be filmed/produced by a high school drama club.
Everytime they showed a zombie, to make them scarier they would jerk their heads to their shoulders over and over again. It was so cheesy I couldn't help but laugh.

Although, I admit I liked the twist at the end.

It made me wonder though, why there hasn't been a whole TV series done on this premise. Maybe something closer to 28 Days Later. I would definitely watch something like that.

That could be good. A show about zombies running the streets and people struggling to survive?

I know a million ways they could mess that up. But if it was about the people and their struggle and adversity, man, I think that could be good. Almost like Jericho but with a threat that breathes in their backyards.

That's exactly what I was thinking too.
Have the show start with someone waking up to discover that most of the world were zombies and throughout the series you get clues as to what happened.
But make the zombies actually scary. Have them run and act like they did in the 28 days later movies. Not that slow methodical scrapping they do in most of the old Zombie flicks.

This would by no means be an original idea but I think it could be entertaining. I'm just so sick of seeing the entire lineup for every station be reality programming.

Especially if it's done like you and I said. It's gotta be about the reasons and the people. It can't be some gore fest just to be a gore fest.

I would like to see a series like that, I would watch.

As much as I would like it to be, I don't think much can be done on network TV. CSI shows some gore, but it is in a scientific way. I would think a network show with horror blood and gore would get a lot of resistance.
