I thought it was awesome. I wasn't expecting the greatest movie of all time, so I walked out of there completely satisfied with the movie. A very enjoyable experience. The entire scene at the train had me dying with laughter. Too much funny!

What's hilarious is that so many people were talking **** about this movie before it came out and saying that it was going to be the end of Will Smith's career(real article written about that) yet it goes on to be another Will Smith blockbuster.

Despite all the negative press, Hancock made a boat load of money.

107 mil domestically, 78 million overseas for a total of 185 million over the weekend. I'd say it's a hit

Really good movie... not great, but entertaining. Caught a matinee and was pleased.

Tough sell at full price for an hour and a half movie...

I saw this today, it was a very entertaining movie - a perfect flick for a lazy summer afternoon after a long weekend of bbq'ing and the like.

I was laughing my arse off at the first part of the film, WS's lines were priceless. The ending was eh but the film lacked a strong plot all along so that wasn't too big of a surprise.

Stole this from another forum, but its what the story was originally suppose to be like. Hence why it was originally called "Tonight, He Comes"

The biggest thing they changed was the love affair between Hancock and Mary. Originally, the concept was that Mary and Hancock are Demi-Gods who are destined to be together, but destiny somehow screwed up because they can never seem to stay in love no matter how many centuries pass. Hancock originally loses his powers because he falls in love with Mary (and gets them back at the end when he realizes he hates her and calls her a b!tch). In the film, Hancock and Mary become mortal when they are just within close proximity to each other - love has nothing to do with it.

They also removed Hancock trying to seduce Mary - his whole reason for Hancock letting Bateman's character help him was so he could pursue Mary. Hancock even ends up having sex with Mary (she's the only one able to withstand his super-sperm). They replaced all that with a longer stay in prison for Hancock and the expensive and arbitrary super-battle between Hancock and Mary over the city.

The original ending has Hancock losing his powers in front of everyone and being kidnapped by the bad guy, who actually has a plot to steal millions. In the film, Hancock only sort of loses his powers in the hospital and the bad guy has no real plot, except to kill Hancock as revenge for the loss of his hand.

Other differences - originally Nike hires Hancock to put the swoosh on the moon, and in the film it's turned into a good thing with Bateman's charity logo. Also, Hancock wasn't as much of a beligerant drunk originally. He didn't cost thousands in damage and he actually had a supersuit, unlike in the film. He was mostly just bored - the opening scene has Hancock performing a daring rescue with the excitement of a guy changing a toner cartridge. They added more action and humor for the film, such as Hancock throwing the SUV on the Tower Records Spire, fighting Mary over the city or shoving one guy's head up another guy's ***.

I think the original draft, while still problematic and flawed, did a better job of explaining the relationship between Hancock and Mary. It was more interesting. The film version really waters it all down, excising all of the complex love triangle stuff. Probably because audiences wouldn't dig the idea of Charlize cheating on her husband with a superhero.

Anyway, good for Smith that the film's doing so well

Saw it tonight. Thought it was pretty good especially liked the character development and pacing. The ending was predictable and cheesy but that's normally the way a super hero movie ends.
