Yeah if you're looking for a radio single, you're not really going to find one. If anything HHID had the wack beats IMO.

As far as reviews, when it comes to music, I pretty much NEVER read someone else's "rating" of an album. Rating a musical creation? Idiotic and pointless IMO.

Untitled to me has lost some luster simply because it's such a raw open journal.. and I think he did try a little too hard to get political and didn't really educate me.

I'll be the first to tell you that Nas is the G.O.A.T, but for God's sake the man can't pick beats for ****. Nastradoomus was soooo much better than Nastradamus.

        Re: Nas: Untitled

I've been listening to it thoroughly over the last few days and I don't know why people has said the production on Nas' latest album is bad. In fact, I think it's quality stuff. My problem with it is that I just don't like the style of beats. Most of the tracks on the album are too slow-paced and too... "clean"... for lack of a better word. I prefer listening to basement style, slightly distorted, grainy, up-tempo boom-bap type beats. And there's entirely too much singing in the breaks, which is my gripe with current generation rap/hip hop music in general and not just Nas.

As for this album overall, I think's it pretty good. The album sets a mainly depressing tone and could be more uplifting or more exciting to listen to, but that's a personal preference and not a knock on its relatively high quality. And reading the album credits, I find it's cool that stic.man of Dead Prez helped Nas on production on all of the politically-charged tracks. But again, while the album is certainly high-quality to me, it's just not my type of preferred style. See, in my hip-hop albums I like chaos in the breaks without overly done singing. I like excitement. I like rapid fire flows on up-tempo tracks. But I don't get any of that while listening to this album, except for the excessive singing that I can do without.

It's good. Not great and full of the NYC-style bangers i cream myself over, but it's a very good consistent album.

btw a little clarification, Illmatic went platinum after 10 years.

The saddest part is that I'm starting to think that this album is actually worse than Nastradamus. At least that had a few bangers and sleepers (Project Windows, Come Get Me, Life We Chose) but there honestly isn't a single track that I love on Untitled. There's no Can't Forget About You, Money Over BS, Hold Down The Block, etc. And the production is just mind-bogglingly bad. Some people are praising Hero and it's probably my favorite track but it's nothing special for Nas, IMO.

Untitled feels like a half-assed promo that needs to be refined a few more times, from start to finish this is huge disappointment especially after Nas dropped four straight dope albums. At best this is second worst album, IMO.
agreed this album is garbage . i think nastradamus is better then this one . ive listened to it like six times and nothing . i really dont like anything on it and the beats are horrible .

worst nas album ive ever heard.

The content went over some people's heads? I mean I can understand people just not liking it, not their cup of tea [that's how I'm starting to feel about it]. But to call it garbage? I have to chuckle at that comment.

                        Come on man.

Nas is in my top 5 favorite rappers, but let's not go overboard with the content. It's not deep, it's not dropping knowledge, and it's not subtle at all.

His "deep" stuff is an ignorant, uneducated high school drop out who has read a few books and thinks he's some genius trying to educate people, when in reality, he's just an ignorant drop out who has read a few books. He's basically the political rapper equivalent of the 13 year old internet posters who just realized that they don't have to believe in God, so they spout off the rhetoric that they took from some internet page. It's nice that he's trying, but let's not make him out to be something he's not.

i enjoy and own every nas album except for nastradamus which at least has a few good songs, and this one which i didnt think was worth a purchase cause i think its his worst album yet. yeah im pretty sure this album just went over my head . this album is just bland and boring. fried chicken , hero . meh to each his own though obviously . . .

That maybe true, but I would be lying if I said I didn't learn anything from this album. I would have never looked up William Cooper and known what he was about if Nas didn't mention him and Sly Fox made me look at Fox news totally different. He's not a genius, but he will say something to make me think better then any other rapper out there.
