I still go revisit some of Atmosphere (Slug) early work from time to time. Overcast!, Headshots Se7en, Sad Clown Bad Dub series, Lucy Ford EP's and God Loves Ugly.

Songs like The Abusing of the Rib, God's Bathroom Floor and Woman with the Tattooed Hands will always be special to me.

Not a huge Kendrick fan, but this album is really solid. Not sure it's 98/100 good, just glad he didn't stay in artsy fartsy mode. TPAB was unlistenable for me.

Im a long time Hip Hop Listener and in my book he cant compare to rappers like Guru,QTip...


The beats on his new album are dreadful. The song humble and its horrible annoying piano plonking 4 note riff/sample are dreadful and remind me of lil yatchy stuff(wanna say ^&*()


Lyrically hes OKAY but its more like a studio written rap and nothing poetic about it.

I was kind of on the same boat as you. Noticed his new album got 96/100 on Metacritic and started listening to the most played tracks and didn't get what all the fuss was about.

So I decided to just listen to his album from top to bottom and I must say, I enjoyed it a lot more. Each song pieces together so well with the next, it was like watching a movie. And once finally finishing listening to the whole album, you know what's your favorite tracks to go back to, just like how sometimes people like to revisit certain scenes in a movie.
