H.E.R. did a Tiny Desk. Need to hear it, she didn't pick any of my favorite songs though [emoji17]

Leon Bridges on Colors too, he killed this.

Been listening to the Krit EP's on repeat since the third one dropped. They're all so damn smooth. Learned from Texas is pure gasoline. I'm digging Energy off the newest set.

I had not seen/heard anything about it but this statement by Flex, "A CULTURE VULTURE CANT GET U UNLESS THE CULTURE YOU REPRESENT IS FOR SALE!!!!!!" is...questionable. Not even sure what it's supposed to mean.

Slow start to the year IMO...

                  New Noname is great:

Still listening to Tana Talk, it made me put together a Griselda playlist, their music just fits this time of year. Brought me back to this one by Conway:

Boogie's new album is good, I like the intro a lot, it's got some good features. JID, 6lack, Christian Scott aTunde Adujah (that song is great), and Eminem...this dude just can't help himself. He was halfway into a decent verse and then goes full Eminem (I consider the sheep line like 80% Eminem), rattling off drugs and taking the song completely off the rails. Gonna have to cut his part off ASAP. Here's Boogie flipping Sing About Me by Kendrick on Sway a couple weeks ago, it's really great (hopefully the timestamp works, 25 minutesish if it doesn't):

Yeah, I looked at the track list Friday and was surprised to see Christian Scott on there. Listening to the album now for the first time. The promo vids for this album were all hilarious.

                    J. Cole's "Middle Child" was scorched Earth, but I guess that's par for the course anymore?

I've been listening to Big KRIT a bunch lately and was fairly disappointed his "new album" was merely the three EPs put together with nothing new. Outside of that been listening to some classics thanks to visiting Shea Serrano's "The Rap Yearbook" playlist. A little Kanye heavy and some scratchers on there, but I still want to read the book to see his honorable mentions and his basis for picking songs.

There's a jazz producer that is basically hip-hop/jazz fusion called Swindle. Here's his new album in full: https://youtu.be/w14fDtJdbfg

Something about the new Cole single just doesn't hit with me. It's OK, I'm not sure what it is. The flow isn't doing it for me.

Kanye was that dude as far as producing from 2003-2011ish.

Definitely. Personal taste bias is all.

Give me Just Blaze or Heatmakerz over Kanye West during the early 2000’s. That’s not to say he didn’t bring a ton of heat back then. Personal preference is all.

The whole Eminem verse is pretty whack and ****s up the flow of not just the song the whole album. It just feels so out of place. Em comes in with that jacked up "chip on the shoulder" energy and then gets even more aggressive later on. To me it doesn't fit within the album as a whole considering it's a fairly low-key, calm and chill, introspective look at interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics.

That would be one of my favorite songs if it wasn't for his verse. As it stands now the initial stand outs to me are Silent Ride, Lolsmh, Soho, Skydive II, and Whose Fault. Pretty good album overall - it made me put East Atlanta Love Letter back on repeat.

Last verse on Lolsmh is my favorite moment on the project for sure. "Pissed cause you pick me apart but don't ever pick me up, ain't no gif or emoji depict how much I don't give a ****", sheesh. Beat is the perfect vibe too. Reminds me a lot of Red Eye, one of my favorite KRIT songs.
