Love the Rapsody joint, especially “Nina”. Songs like that with the cult’ish chanting always draw me in

So far loving this Apollo Brown, Davd East, and Elzhi.

I was a HUGE LB fan but I think their new joint sucks tbh. I hate how slow Phonte’s cadence has gotten over the years. It’s natural for MC’s to slow down as they mature but damn, Tiggalo, every line doesn’t have to be delivered like it’s a punchline

It's definitely a slower, chiller album for sure. The last time I really listened to LB was with The Minstrel Show so a bit of a difference. I don't think I could ever say the new one sucks, though.

Ive probably listened to No News is Good News more than any of the Little Brother albums but I don't think his flow is so much slower than its always been.

The thing about not delivering every line like a punchline is almost every line is a punchline.

I’m probably a lil older than a few of y’all (39) so I was rocking with the Justice League since the jump. Probably some nostalgia on my end as those coincided with my single and always down to mingle days but I can still probably rap the Listening and Minstrel show if I throw em on.

They also introduced me to one of Top 3 favorite mc’s... Skyzoo

I got Gibbs joint, Ghost/CZARFACE and GangStarr as my albums of the year. Granted I don't generally stay out my lane so I've probably missed a lot people would call the top albums.

Kanye lose all his friends or something? Somebody needs to get this man, but he's probably already past the point of being ignored so it may not matter anymore.

What did the attention seeking idiot do or say this time? I've barely listened to his last two projects because of all his silly antics, although I realize many of his outbursts might be do to his mental illness.

I just see all the happenings from a friend on FB who has, essentially, been chronicling Kanye's declining public mental health the past 2 years or so. Last I saw he was in Lakewood with Joel Osteen and is now talking about an opera about Nebuchadnezzar.

Was listening to Spotify's current jazz playlist and came across a Rapsody feature:

Terri Lyne Carrington and Social Science - Anthem ft. Rapsody

Not sure it's worth even bringing up, but Grammy's announced the nominations for Rap Album of the Year:

Revenge of the Dreamers III - Dreamville
                        Championships - Meek Mill
                        I Am > I Was - 21 Savage
                        IGOR - Tyler, the Creator
The Lost Boy - YBN Cordae

None of them are up for overall Album of the Year.

                        Best Rap Song:
“Bad Idea” — Chancelor Bennett, Cordae Dunston, Uforo Ebong & Daniel Hackett, songwriters (Ybn Cordae ft. Chance The Rapper)
“Gold Roses” — Noel Cadastre, Aubrey Graham, Anderson Hernandez, Khristopher Riddick-tynes, William Leonard Roberts Ii, Joshua Quinton Scruggs, Leon Thomas Iii & Ozan Yildirim, songwriters (Rick Ross ft. Drake)

I don't love or hate the nominations I guess. Kinda surprised Rapsody didn't get nominated, even if I don't think she ever had a chance of winning, it seems like they would nominate her for the brownie points. Wouldn't really mind any of the albums winning, if I had to put money, I'd say either Tyler or Meek takes it. Not surprised Gibbs didn't get nominated.

I love that Gold Roses got nominated, wouldn't be surprised if any of those won.

Shuffling through my Griselda playlist, there's so much stuff added since Tana Talk, Hide the Body came on when I was walking the other day, I didn't even recognize it. Just heard the Wire clip, then Con and Benny, greatness.

The Queen & Slim soundtrack is pretty good, the Vince, Mereba, 6lack song on there is great. I kinda wanna see the movie.

Championships and Victory Lap were 2 of the best albums in 2018 to me.

Can someone explain to me the Lizzo hype too? That’s one I struggling to understand which I guess makes sense since I’m not a female and I’m not big either...

I got nothing there, I tried to listen to her album earlier in the year, got like 5 songs in and just decided it wasn't for me. At that point, the song (Truth Hurts) that blew up wasn't even on it, so I've never heard it. I'm paying about as much attention to her as I paid to Old Town Road, which is the absolute minimum possible.

I listened to her album when it first dropped before she really blew up. She's not an overly-talented emcee, but it was listenable and definitely had some mainstream appeal. I respect that she just fully embraced herself and all her insecurities on the album and that's what has made her so popular. Many more fans identify with her than women like Meghan Thee Stallion who look like they were built in a lab.
