Recovery is truly sick! Amazing. For me, his albums rank as:

    1. Marshall Mathers LP
    2. Slim Shady LP
    3a. The Eminem Show
    3b. Recovery
    4. Relapse:Refill
    5. Relapse
    6. Encore

Stillmatic, God's Son and Untitled still get HEAVY replay from me.

I just loved the sound and theme of American Gangster. Although it wasn't as good as Reasonable Doubt, he still took it back to the street and switched it up by doing a concept album, basically detailing a hustlers life from beginning to end. I can't call Kingdom Come or BP3 garbage, but the only thing carrying those albums was Jay's skill and his top notch beats, because he's running out of stuff to talk about.
Yes you can. Because Kingdom Come WAS garbage. That album gets the Encore treatment in that it shouldn't even be mentioned when talking about past albums.

Im not saying that he isn't good. He will go down as top 10 ever, but right now, If you had to pick one rapper that could put down the best verse, it would be him? In 2010? All I am saying is that he has 3 GREAT albums, and the rest of them (especially recently) fall somewhere between solid to ok to mediocre at best. He thinks he can do what he wants based on his past, and that is fine, but it doesn't change the fact that it is subpar especially when you start putting him in the conversation as the best out NOW. ****, Em killed Jay when they were both probably in their primes, and would do the same thing now, by far, but even worse.

I just dont think he deserves to be in the conversation with Em, Dre 3000, Black Thought, or Nas (who I had mentioned before, Po Pimp - I did think that Street's Disciple was a little weak though). It isnt that I hate him, I just think at least those 4 rappers, along with several other rappers, make much better music right now. And since you mentioned Buddens, I would take a verse from any member of Slaughterhouse over one from Jay.

Also I dont know if anyone else has seen him live, but Jay is a ****ty live MC, I want my sixty dollars back lol
Well first of all, when you compare artists, you can't just compare lyrics and nothing else. If I was just to compare lyrics, I'd probably take Joe Budden over everybody. But I think Nas's recent albums aren't that much better than Jay-Z's.

        Since 2001
        Blueprint > Stillmatic
        BP2 < God's Son
        Black Album > Street's Disciple
Kindom Come < Hip Hop is Dead
        BP3 < Untitled ≤ American Gangster

If the Lost Tapes counts, I'd put that ahead of BP3 and American Gangster still on par in the very least with untitled. But even Reasonable Doubt isn't THAT far off from Illmatic.

To me, it's certain songs that push Jay-Z ahead of Nas. I love Nas's concepts songs but I love Jay's "anthems" more. No Nas song makes my head bop like Moment of Clarity or Hard Knock Life or U Don't Know or the Watcher, etc. Nas picks some terrible beats.

Ah, my bad. Infinite totally slipped my mind. I do like that, so adjusting the list:

          1. MMLP
          2. SSLP
          3. TES
          4. Infinite
          5. Recovery
          6. Refill
          7. Relapse

          And we'll just ignore Encore...

I agree, I probably put a little bit more stock in lyrics than most. I agree with every album comparison besides the last one. I think untitled and Hip Hop is Dead are both better than BP3 and American Gangster, but that is probably just preference.

I disagree, but I can feel what you are saying. That is why Jay/Nas is always so divisive. They are completely different. Stylistically and then the introvert vs the extrovert. I don't think Nas picks bad beats per se, I just don't think that he is trying to make your head bop. Example that popped into my head was 'Purple' Amazing beat, but I don't know if it is something I have ever head nodded to.

Cot damn Em kills it on "No Love". He goes so hard on this verse I wanna cry for Wayne. At least he (Weezy) was smart enough to spit before Em (and help support Em during his), cuz there is no way he would have been able to follow him. Wayne's verse wasn't bad either, Em just kills it.

"They call me a freak cuz I like to spit on these ******* fore' I eat em' ".

One of the things I dislike most about OS sometimes is how frequently things get overrated here. I feel bad right now cuz it's like I am contributing in this instance but damn this album is tight. It might not even be that hot, it's probably just so much better than what's been out lately that I'm over excited. Regardless, this is my favorite album so far this year.* Every single track is dope. Daaaamn Cinderella Man is going off in my ear right now. This **** is hot!

*I've long since decided that Sir Luscious Left Foot will be my album of the year.

And Jay-Z hasn't been good in years, I still don't understand how me and one other person I know are the only ones to see that.
I don't know how you can say he is not good comparing him to the other crap that comes out regularly in hip-hop. I think American Gangster was one of the best albums he ever put out.
