JayZ and Em are just very mainstream to me. Fitting in holds them back.

Cinderella Man is the only song I'm not feeling that much, and at least he was lyrical on there...it's just that stupid chorus I don't like.

Didn't know this was comin out is there a date for it yet? Don't know why I'm a Jeezy fan tho lol!!

I ususally lean towards more lyrically conscious rappers but Jeezy always picks the right beats to make up for it especially on the Recession y Thug Motivation 101.

The trick is not to listen to the crap :-)

Also there is no way American Gangster is anything better than his 4th best album, and the only reason it could be there is due to everything else being on the same solid-average level.

American Gangster was a good album, but I think it gets overrated because it came out after Kingdom Come.

IMO, Jay-Z's albums go in this order from best to worst...

                      1st tier:
Reasonable Doubt - His best easily.

The Blueprint - Changed the game, but not as lyrical as the others in this group.

The Black Album - Only flaw was his constant whining about his legacy and not being appreciated.

Vol 1 - Classic Jay songs, but also contains arguably his worst song and a couple of poppy sounding songs.

                      2nd tier:
Dynasty - Compilation, but it's actually underrated. Contains some of Jay's best songs ever.

American Gangster - No song would crack Jay's top 20, but it's not really flawed and is consistent throughout.

Vol 2 - The album that made him blow up.

BP2 - Lots of filler mixed with some great songs too

                      3rd tier:
BP3 - Jay's most poppy album. Seemed like he was really trying to crossover on this one.

Kingdom Come - Not terrible, but Jay was trying too hard to show his maturity

Vol 3 - My least favorite Jay-Z album...some of Jay's worst songs ever are on this.

I mostly agree, Id drop Vol 1 to second tier though and drop Dynasty to third. but pretty accurate.

I also feel there is a HUGE drop off between 1st and 2nd tier, but not so much between 2nd ad 3rd

I can respect that. The only thing that keeps Vol 1 in the top tier are classics like Where I'm From, You Must Love Me, A Million And One Questions, Imaginary Player, etc...but I absolutely hate I Know What Girls Like. Even Sunshine and You Belong to the City aren't TERRIBLE, they just have a poppy feel.

I gotta leave Dynasty in the 2nd tier off the strength of This Can't Be Life, Soon You'll Understand, Stick to the Script, and Where Have You Been. I Just Wanna Love Ya was the biggest hit off that album, yet it was my least favorite song.

It's funny because I used to feel the same way about Jeezy also. When he first came out, I couldn't STAND the dude. Hated his first few mixtapes and hated 101. Then one day, I downloaded The Inspiration(which is now my favorite Jeezy album BTW)liked that and slowly but surely started becoming a fan of his. 102 was alriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight but if I had to rank it out of all his albums/mixtapes, it'd be behind 101, The Inspiration, Trap or Die 1 and 2 and MAYBE behind Can't Ban The Snowman.
