My comments are not about credibility or anything in that context, but moreso regarding the fact that Cube is like at 40 some years old and far removed from the NWA-era... isn't it time to bring a little more to the table?
This "new" album is nothing that probably hasn't already been covered from 1995-2003 circa the Westside Connection. Topics are the same, w/ new beats, and molded in the current assembly-line-rap fashion.
Take Jay-Z for example. When it was stated the Black Album was his last, and he was retiring... in my mind he did retire...and I haven't bought another Jay-Z album since, nor will I.
Jay-Z's another 40-something dude who still raps about club life, hustlin, and the same **** from "Big Pimpin"/Reasonable Doubt days.
I'd say the most profound verse he's put out since the Black album was on Coldplay's Lost remix where he actually speaks to something relevant.
