Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Yeah I'm confused and concerned. Why wait so long? And what exactly did Lupe have to agree to in order to change Atlantic's mind? Or was the simple idea of the protest happening enough for Atlantic to cave in? We need more details!!!Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Anybody see this book before? I want it.
This came through in the mail today and caught my interest. Similar to Jay-Z's upcoming book, Decoded, Understand Rap provides explanations to some of the game's most iconic quotables. The book drops today and is also available on Amazon. Peep an excerpt below. Lyric: "I was strapped wit' gats when you were cuddled wit' cabbage

Lyric: “I was strapped wit’ gats when you were cuddled wit’ cabbage patch.”
Lyric From Song “Forgot About Dre”
On Album 2001
By Artist Dr. Dre
Explanation: When you were still a child and had no concerns other than playing with dolls in the comfort and safety of your home, I was carrying guns around in my dangerous neighborhood.
Lyric “I ain’t pass the bar, but I know a little bit”
Lyric From Song “99 Problems”
On Album The Black Album
By Artist Jay-Z
Explanation: Although I haven’t educated myself concerning the matters necessary to complete the examination lawyers take to be able to practice law, I have enough knowledge to be a very successful rapper and entrepreneur and to have sustained a level of wealth greater than many lawyers.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. ^ Thats kind of funny but did they not miss part of the point about Jays line about the bar? Is that line not referencing him getting pulled over by a cop and knowing his rights?

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I like Lupe and enjoy his music as much as the next guy but I ain't making an exception for him to buy his album.
Ain't bought a CD from the Store in years and as long as the Internetz is still up and running, that's not going to change anytime soon. Glad his album is finally coming out though

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
supposedly today/tonight we're getting a song from Kanye, Lupe, and Pharrell.
Not holding my breath because everything Kanye touches turns to wackness, ESPECIALLY when it's hyped.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
sounds like a throwaway mixtape quality song...Lupe does go in a bit though...Pharrell is laughably amateurish on the mic, he sounds so timid I can't even imagine what he would he sound like without a GREAT engineer carrying him. Not to mention his lyrics wouldn't put him in the top 500,000 mc's in the US.
another completely non-memorable verse from Kanye, besides the fact that he makes me want to throw up when he starts adlibbing during Lupes verse
1-2 weeks and this is out of 99% of hip hop fans' playlists and forgotten about
/weekly kanye sucks now rant
edit: better off going with the new Consequence track http://usershare.net/?dlink=69gomnp4p5iu
or Dollar remix with Joell Ortiz Red Care Maino Papoose and Cassidy http://usershare.net/?dlink=513wwtdjs06wLast edited by NC State-31 UNC-27; 10-08-2010, 10:38 PM.Comment
