I hope you're not posting in the NBA forum about Derrick Rose.

So, because I'm a fan of Lil B, I can't join the discussion?

I never said he's the greatest, or that he's better than your favorite rapper. He's not even my favorite artist. I'm just posting some of his music in the "Hip-hop/Rap Music Thread." I'm posting for those interested, because I feel everyone really is sleeping on him. If you can't stand him so much, you don't need to click play on the links.

I do, but I also speak objectively.

You just agreed to a post saying he graces the mic with powerful lyrics.

I guess we interpret the word powerful differently then. If by powerful, he meant incredibly ignorant and controversial, then yes I would concur.

As far as anything meaningful, not a chance.

And yes I've heard more than troll/party songs from him, and he is no where near among the most talented out by any stretch of the word.

Nothing special or anything but here's a new track featuring Kanye (NSFW).

I'm in serious need of some new Kanye (minus Jay). Hopefully he has an album in the works this year.

I do believe he has powerful lyrics.

Disregard those troll songs, cooking tracks, etc and give him a listen, that's all I'm really trying to say.

I believe determining talent in the hip hop genre is preference based. Waka Flocka is some ones favorite rapper, its what we prefer as listeners. Some like deep poetic lyrics, some like catchy lines, others love beats.

Again, disregarding the troll songs. He has talent in my eyes, deep lyrics and nice production.

He's also innovative, in an interesting way.

I'm sure you're going to disagree with just about everything I said. I have no agenda, I'm not trying to shove him down anyone's throat, just throwing my 2 cents in.

Don't look at the bad and only the good? Doesn't quite work that way unfortunately. Have to look at the whole body of work.

That's like saying don't look at the 60 losses this team has, but the 20 wins.

Never liked picking and choosing samples.

I agree however though that it's all preference.

                  Good point.

I guess I look at it differently because I don't mind the troll/cooking songs, so I can easily filter his music.

When I first heard his music, I thought, "Is he serious?" I found the ignorance in his music amusing. I started listening to his other tracks and realized he has talent.

Now, if I look at it from the other perspective, I can see why others can't stand him. He left a bad taste in your mouths. Just a guess to why others may hate this guy so much

I've never heard of him before, but that's the kinda rap I like. Too bad he didn't get to live long enough to let his style mature.

I want more "storytelling" rap. Like when they describe an incident, a moment, or a day. (yea I know the first idea is gonna be "today was a good day" haha)
