Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I actually like that Immortal Technique song, that's twisted, and the Beethoven style background was a nice touch.

This Budden track is better, but that might be thanks to the pseudo metallica "sample", I'm a metalhead and I eat up anything metallica lol

I'm kinda 50/50 on Nas & Lupe. The song from the other post about the guy digging himself out of his grave was awesome though.

I could listen to Stan every day lol, and that made me think of my favorite Eminem song being sort of "storytelling" so to keep with that theme:

    NSFW of course

Speaking of Eminem, a dope bonus cut off the 8 mile soundtrack. I hated that Encore album btw.

I have a real appreciation for lyricism. Like seriously, the way these artists are able to convey their messages through words and rhyming is pretty incredible.

That said, I can't listen to much of it anymore. As I get older, I just like listening to stuff that is kind of catchy and that I can just ride too. I think Joe Budden/Slaughterhouse is about as far as I go lyricism wise that I bump on a regular basis. I think maybe growing as a music producer has also changed my ear as well.

I used to be in the extreme category where I was totally anti-Lil Wayne or any other pop rap, but now I've learned to take it for what it is and has made for a more enjoyable experience musically then totally eliminating certain avenues of rap/hip-hop.

There's a definite contrast in music I ride to and music I sit down and listen to. I feel you on that.

I need to write down a list of some of these tracks and burn myself a mix. I've missed out on a lot of good music.

Nice to see others bumpin Tech N9ne too. I don't think anyone can touch what he's put out in a mix of quantity and quality the past 5-6 years (4 solo albums-including a double disc, 4 collabo albums, 3 EPs, 1 mixtape). Plus on top of that he's been on the road constantly. The guy knows how to spread his music.

I've been listening to these two songs of his on repeat the past few weeks (NSFW):

Yeah i've had to open up my horizons lately as well just so I can find new music I like.

Lyrics is a big thing for me tho, I can't stand guys like Lil Wayne or something anymore if it's just random BS. One of the biggest reasons Eminem is still my favorite rapper because I can sit through his songs and listen to a story, and nothing really repeats besides the chorus or something.
