I went to see Nas live in Sydney his first night (Thursday)...what an awesome show! I was actually pretty sceptical going into it because firstly I knew it was specifically an 20th Anniversary "Illmatic" Tour but was worried that album was all he would perform and also because I remember seeing video of his Coachella set last year where he had a lyrics teleprompter on stage...really don't think he used it at all to be fair - he definitely didn't need it in Sydney!

But it was a great performance and he spent about 40 minutes doing "Illmatic" front-to-back (although he performed One Love out of order) and went on to perform a montage of his "It Was Written" hits (The Message / Street Dreams / If I Ruled The World) as well as plenty of his other hits like Nas Is Like / I Can / One Mic so I was more than satisfied considering it was my first time seeing him perform live!

New Lupe is really good. Surprised it's as complete an album as it is. Not that F&L2 was bad or anything.

Also surprised with the overall length of most of the songs. Most of them are 5+ minutes long, with 3 being over 8 minutes, yet somehow it doesn't seem to feel too long. Pretty impressive for a hip-hop album.

Even though it's only January, I think this is going to end up being one of the best albums of the year.

One random thought: I wish Schoolboy Q would have been featured on Chopper.

New Big Sean album comes out in a month. Cool album name, but if it's anything like Hall of Fame, I don't want anything to do with it.

Arguably the best album of last year (albeit in a very weak year) that keeps getting better the more you listen to it. Also probably the most complete and quality album top to bottom that he's released. That being said, The Warm Up is still my favorite thing he's done.

Finally finished listening to Tetsuo & Youth. This just **** on his last two albums and F&L2 wasn't even bad. I missed this type of product from Lupe. Gonna have to be something real dope to top this the rest of the year. Hell, he even got BigGhostFace on his side with this one.

One random thought: I wish Schoolboy Q would have been featured on Chopper.

I read this before listening to Chopper, but I now see exactly what you meant.
