Gotta touch on this after listening yesterday. I hate that I have to say this, but you're 100% right. It was pretty much what I feared after you said this. The singles already released were the best songs. Falconry is probably the only other one I truly like that wasn't out before.

There's way too much filler without there being actual rap on it. Needs way more songs like Acting Crazy, Falconry, Terry, Baby Blue and Easy Rider and way less everything else which is mostly just a beat playing. Even Terry and Easy Rider border on too much dead space. Sucks because I was really looking forward to this.

Well if you remember, when Macklemore won the Grammy for Best Rap Album, a lot of critics/fans were bent out of shape because they didn't feel that Mackelmore and his offering could really be considered Hip-Hop and thought it bordered more a long the lines of a pop album (Although I disagree). I wonder if they will feel the same way if Kendrick, who ironically has put himself in a similar situation with this project, wins the award in the same manner Mackelmore did, offering an album that isn't necessarily hip hop.

Will those same fans that were crying when Kendrick got beat out, be there when Drake or someone else gets beat out for this album? Because it's almost guaranteed to win just based upon how controversial it is sonically.

I sincerely disagree with your categorization of this album. A lot of artists before Kendrick (De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Outkast, etc.) have created "genre bending" albums. This album is a breath of fresh air in a musical genre mired in mediocrity and formulaic "garbage." It is definitely heavily influenced by spoken word, Jazz and Funk but in the end it is still a Rap album.

Also, let us not confuse the musical genre of Rap with the broader sub-culture of Hip-Hop.
