The best and it's not even close IMO. Every time I think about story telling, I think about this song. You can close your eyes and picture the whole thing while he's rapping. Crazy.

Also, my favorite Biggie line (from Going Back To Cali):

      "It's the N-O, T-O, R-I, O, U-S, you just, lay down, slow"

Flow is un****witable, music is timeless, Biggie lives forever through my iTunes. R.I.P.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

Interesting question by Hopsin on his Facebook page:

"if the rap game only allowed 5 rappers to supply hip hop music for everyone in the world, which rappers would you pick? they can be dead or alive. mine would be 2 pac, big L, blond haired eminem, old busta rhymes and old ludacris."

I wasn't really sure how I would answer this...pick my five favorite? or try to get five rappers who cover different styles?

              I ended up choosing:

Big L - favorite rapper of all time, punch line king, freestyle king, lyricist, also a funny rapper
Big Pun - best flow of all time IMO, similar to Big L
Kendrick Lamar - another great lyricist and story-teller, also west coast
A$AP Rocky - this one may be more controversial, but I figured with the 3 above being great lyricists, I would want a more simple, party type of music
Devin the Dude - this one may be the most controversial of all, but I was trying to choose with my last spot if I wanted someone who was a political rapper (ie. Lupe Fiasco) or someone I could just chill out and relax to? I ended up choosing the Dude simply bc I listen to him more than someone like Lupe. I could have very easily chosen someone like Bone Thugs instead of the Dude, but I'm personally favor Devin.

I would like to see what you guys would choose?
              Chicago Bulls
              Chicago Bears
              Wisconsin Badgers

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

The easy answer would be to list Jay, Em, Pac, Biggie, and then fill in the last spot with whoever. I'd probably pick a prime 50 Cent in that 5th spot, or Kanye.

                  ^ 1.) Slick Rick
2.) Raekwon/Ghost and Meth...come on, you can't have one without the other.
                  3.) Nas
                  4.) Biggie
                  5.) Rakim

I really want to make number 2 the entire Wu-Tang Clan, and Kendrick would be #6!

                    1. Biggie (why choose between party songs and a lyricist when you can have both in 1!)

                    2. Jay-Z

                    3. Kanye (for beats and rapping)

                    4. Snoop Dogg (basically got me into music, will always love Snoop)

                    5. Kid Cudi (strange choice I guess, but I think he's super versatile, and can provide a nice upbeat vibe (Up Up and Away) just as easily as he can make a slow, darker song (Solo Dolo) and I just really love his music

My regional list (more fun) would probably be East - Biggie, Midwest - Kanye, South - Outkast (if they count, if I can only have 1 then I'd pick Scarface), West - Snoop, North (I guess that'd be the other one) - I'd probably go with Drake cause I think he's super versatile just like Cudi, and I'm not a huge fan of other Northern stuff (Atmosphere, basically all of Rhymesayers, etc.)

                      Pac (my GOAT)
Ice Cube (prime Cube, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, Death Certificate era)
Outkast (can I just have the duo as one?)
Eminem (yeah, bleach blonde Em, dude was a monster)
Kanye (hate him love him, dude is crazy talented)

This was really, really hard and I don't think I'm locked in outside of Pac and Kast.

I think I'd have to go with Eminem, Kendrick, Kanye, Pac, and...Hm...maybe Biggie/Outkast. That last one is hard.

Welp...if we're qualifying different career arcs here...

1.) Farenheit Lupe (I still haven't heard anyone drop dope lyricism like that in 12 straight songs on a mixtape. I still listen to that series)

2.) Eminem (In terms of lyricism Eminem is just a smidgeon behind Lupe. Could be equal. Recovery is a classic. Closest to the Farenhiet series in terms of just straight mind-boggingly dope lyrics.)

3.) A$AP Rocky (Dropped a Classic. Rides a beat unlike anyone I've ever heard. He just straight compliments every song he's on. He doesn't detract from it. You don't hear him and go, "He doesn't fit this beat")

4.) Kanye (No one has ever made me laugh harder when dropping punch-lines. Underrated lyricist. Can make all types of music equally.)

5.) Ludacris (Because NO ONE besides Kanye made me laugh harder when listening to his ryhmes. Also had punchlines for days. Dope Flow. Seriously underrated rapper)

My 5 would be pretty simple, but i'm also looking at it from a perspective of if there's only 5 guys I'm thinking of guys who would either work well together on songs or I'd want to hear together again or for the 1st time.

                            1. Eminem, even current version is great as Recovery is a classic. Just kind of throw out Relapse. Would just give a unique vibe of a little bit of craziness still but can tell a story like none other.

                            2. Jay-Z, well like Em he's an all time great.

                            3. Outkast, great lyrics and they can bust out some top party hits.

                            4. 2 Pac, I'm putting some emphasis on lyrics here as that's just what I look for in rap songs.

                            5. Dr. Dre, this one was hard for me at first as I really want to put Get Rich or Die Trying and before 50 Cent here or Kendrick Lamar but Dre's producing is great and every song he's put out i've loved so it was a no brainer after that.

It thought it was good because it felt like Eminem was "back". I guess that played a role in why I liked it so much and why it was received so well by many.
