I'm glad you don't let it determine what's good music to you. Just be aware that winning a Grammy doesn't necessarily put you on a higher pedestal than other artists, especially with this genre since it's mostly based on numbers more than anything.

Listened to the Drake album in full front to back 5x as I do every album. It wasn't good to me at all. Living in the times we live in though somebody will call it a "classic" or "I'm hating" or "You don't understand what he talking about".

I don't hate it, but I don't really like it all that much either. Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2, and The Motion are GREAT though.

It's classic. You're just hating. And of course, you don't understand what he's talking about. Now that we got all the bases covered, as someone who'd rate the album as "Good", I don't find anything wrong with what you said. Pretty level-headed response. At least you didn't say anything like "He should get jumped in the streets and put in a wheelchair for real" or any other plethora of unnecessarily violent responses because of somebody's music.

It's alright. It's something I can just put on in the background and not be irritated by it.

I'm probably going to listen to it one more time. But I can already tell it's not something I'm going to put on repeat front to back like ASAP's album.

Another one I forgot to mention that I really like so far from NWTS is Furthest Thing. Really feeling that one. I could also see Connect growing on me as well.

All in all I think it's a solid album. The songs that I do like, I really like. Started From The Bottom, Hold On, We're Going Home, Too Much, Tuscan Leather, Pound Cake (damn, that Jay verse...), etc. And a lot of these songs I don't like suddenly become a lot better halfway through them. Like for example, when he drops the Mase verse on Worst Behavior. That almost redeems it for me.

As for it being album of the year, I personally don't think it's that. I'm sure in the end the majority of people will crown it that, and that's fine to me. I won't disagree. But yesterday I was actually just listening to what I think have been the best releases so far this year and I honestly think a mixtape from a 20 year old unsigned Chicago kid might be at the top. Better than Magna Carta Holy Grail, better than Born Sinner, better than Nothing Was The Same, and sure as hell better than Yeezus. Yeah, I think Acid Rap from Chance The Rapper might just be album of the year for me.

Someone went HAM on Drake's album. "....yo Drake album so soft it made me pick up hookers in GTA V and drive them to a safe area..."
