Columbus, OH residents: What TV, internet provider to use??

I'm moving to Columbus this week and was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for what internet/TV/phone provider is the best. I had Verizon FIOS in Richmond, VA and it was fantastic but it appears that is not available here in CBus. When I used to live here I had Time Warner Roadrunner and thought it was pretty good, no real complaints. Just wondering if anything is better though as I've been gone from Columbus since 2002.

    Thanks in advance!

If you want the Big 10 network, don't get Time Warner. You'll be out of luck.

I believe there are some parts of town that will have the FIOS. Where are you moving in Cbus?

If you can't get that, the best way may be DirecTV + time warner for high speed. But if you want to watch all the OSU games.....plus, if you want to get Sunday Ticket for the NFL its a no brainer.

I will be moving into Worthington off of I-23 Delaware/Worthington exit. I'm going to look at townhouses over the next couple of days and will find out about the possibility of getting DirecTV at each place. I would love to get the Big 10 network but since I do go to all Buckeye football games it would mostly be for the other Big 10 stuff (and games).

When I lived in Dublin before I had DirecTV and TimeWarner and it worked out really well. Dang I wish they had FIOS here now though, that is one thing I will miss from Richmond, VA (one of the few things heh).

we moved down to florida from columbus 4 years ago...when we were there we were with Insight Communications...lived in Westerville, which is not far from Worthington at all.

i had directv installed and i love it - great HD quality and the ability to purchase sports packages appeals to me (and my kids get all the stations they like).

i loved columbus, but my wife and i both had job offers in the tampa area that we couldn't refuse...just purchased our first home (after 10 years of marriage and 4 kids later) and i have no desire to ever see snow again.

hope it works out well for you!

We used to have Time Warner but got rid of it because it was always messing up and now we have Dish Network with whatever the fastest At&t internet is. I like it much better than Time Warner and Road Runner.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

well i ended up in westerville (saw my apt today) so I gotta ask - how was insight cable and internet? the apt. complex is telling me that is who provides service there. i'm a bit apprehensive as I thought at worst i'd end up with time warner which i had once before and knew the pros and cons of it..

Re: Columbus, OH residents: What TV, internet provider to use??

it was actually pretty decent...i didn't have high speed internet at that time (was still using dial-up...ugh!!) but it was over 4 years ago, so i'm not sure. but i do recall friends of mine using the road-runner service through some company that had the letters "WW" (can't recall who that was, but they preferred it).

regarding the cable service, we lived in a town house and it was solid. it came with the nfl network which was fine with me...not sure, but i also believe you'll get the big ten network as well. you might be able to check online and see what they offer and what the channel line-up is.

i hope you enjoy westerville...we really liked it there. having the college there in town and also not being far from downtown columbus is really nice (access to the interstate with the belt on the northeast side is good). you'll have to check out polaris and there are a ton of shops off of I-270, south of rt. 161 on the east side (can't remember the name of them but a lot of people go there to shop and for movies). but it's a great place to live, and if ohio didn't have winters we'd still be there, as i grew up in northeast ohio and my wife is from the fort wayne, indiana area.

you should call WOW too, I know they are providing service in areas that didn't use to get it and maybe the people at your apartment complex don't know that yet.

It's a good thing you can't get Time Warner, it sucks here. The menus on screen are slow and crappy and the service is horrible.

I have Time Warner, and wish I could get DirecTV.

You might want to check to see if AT&T uverse is available in your area. Some parts of Columbus are having that installed now.

I wish FiOs was available here. Supposedly I have heard 2009.
