Re: Bruno
Jesus, forget I said anything. I said I ENJOYED Borat and somehow its being taken as if Im some damn religous zealot who is afraid to be offended at Bruno. I was simply asking, if there are two guys sitting in a hot tub performing sex acts, can the viewer see anything or is it all blocked out? I guess I have to spell it out since people arent apparently reading everything I post and are instead picking and choosing what they want to address.Comment

Re: Bruno
This movie was freaking HILARIOUS. I've been a big fan of Cohen since his Ali G days, and I thought Borat was not very funny (show was so much funnier), but man Bruno was great. Borat was a little too frustrating for me, Bruno on the other hand is much wittier and just funnier all together.
I hardly enjoy comedies anymore because everything nowadays is just so lame and repetitive. There were some really gross things in the movie, but nothing that really offended me. As long as you realize that all the risque/controversial scenes were mostly edited(little O.J. almost getting in car accident or arriving in a box) then its really not too bad.Comment

Re: Bruno
To give a quick synopsis
"A study released by the European Commission in 2006 found that a plurality of people in the European Union (49%) oppose gay marriage. Yet, as in the United States, the public remains divided on the issue, with 44% favoring same-sex marriage. Approval rates in individual European countries vary greatly. In socially progressive Holland, for instance, 82% of all adults favor allowing same-sex marriage; in heavily Roman Catholic Poland, only 17% of adults support gay marriage."
"A 2007 survey by the Pew Research Center's Global Attitudes Project found that strong majorities of the people polled in the African, Asian and Middle Eastern countries surveyed do not view homosexuality as a socially acceptable way of life."
"As of Jan. 1, 2009, gay couples in Norway can legally marry, adopt children and undergo artificial insemination. The new legislation, which replaces a 1993 law permitting civil unions, makes Norway the sixth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage."
So based on this article, only SIX countries recognizes same-sex marriages.Comment

Re: Bruno
I saw it and was a little disappointed. I'm not a homophobe at all. I just think some of these movies these days are trash. I personally think Cohen and his brand of comedy will get old quick. Just like Will Ferrell.Huge Fan of the New Orleans Saints & New Orleans Pelicans!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

Re: Bruno
Horribly offensive. Still really funny though. I thought people were going to walk out, but suprisingly no one did. Just for reference for those of you wondering whether or not to go, the most shocking/offensive scene from Borat (naked scene in the hotel) pales in comparison to almost every part of this movie.Comment

Re: Bruno
Literally half of the people left the theatre when I went to see it."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

All I can say is wow. About 10 people left the theatre. I have no idea how some of the stuff got past the screeners!Comment

Re: Bruno
Just saw it....thought it was great but I really don't get offended by anything I see. Probably the worst was the Milli Vanillia psychic scene......surprised that made it in there."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

I thought the movie was pretty funny. It wasn't as good as Borat, but I'm not sure if that has more to do with Borat coming first than it actually being a better movie. There was some pretty hardcore content, specifically early on, but I actually was expecting worse given the publicity. If you don't want to see penis or men making out with each other then don't see it. Otherwise, there were some pretty hilarious moments and squirm-in-your-seat interviews. The movie is really short, but I was also ready for it to end as there wasn't any place left for the movie to go.Comment

Re: Bruno
This was one of the funniest, most inappropriate, politically incorrect, and amazing movies I've ever seen.
I'd put this and Borat at about even.Comment
