Anyone remember that Dear John tv show? I used to like it mostly because of that idiot Kirk...what a loser...LOL. But they all were losers

Waht's funny is that my dad used to know some one that looks exactly like Judd Hirsch...lol

I couldn't stand the show when it was actually on, but later when they started showing reruns on USA I started to think it was funny.

It was one of those dark comedies that NBC was showing at the time... Another good one, and I think one that was vastly underrated, was the "John Larroquette Show". It had a real dark humor that appealed to me.

"Kirk" was the only reason to watch the show...... I can't believe that guy didn't land something later on. I remember an episode where he broke out into a dance for some reason and it was a scream.


(now that I think of it, was it "Kirk" or "Kirt".....either way, the way he's always pronounce his name was great......he could have pulled off "4 popped collars cool")

I saw him on some other TV show a couple years ago, so he has been working... I can't remember what the show was though; it might have been one of those Lifetime movies that my wife subjects me to on occasion... I do know his name is Jere Burns.

Yes Jere Burns has been doing some B and C grade stuff since DEAR JOHN. I didn't truly appreciate the show when it was originally on. I'd watch it and say "oh that's nice" and laugh a bit but when it was on the local Buffalo Fox affiliate on reruns a few years after the original run I watched it a ton and loved it.

Kirk was a hoot and Jere Burns fit that part to a tee. It's unfortunate that his career went off the rails afterwards.

I still can hear Kirk calls John like he did - "Johhhhn"! - going high with his voice...lol. I remember an episode where everyone wanted to know about his personal life and he told them he's in the CIA or something, and he got some one to pick him up with a helicopter...LOL And later on, everyone came to his house and found some fake VHS and stuff...it was so funny!
And he always tried to get a date with that woman, don't remember her name, but he used to call her "Red". I really liked this show. I remember it was aired here in the early 90's or something like that, on Saturday evening, and my mom used to call me to come over to watch it: "Youval, there's Dear John on TV"...

I always liked the opening to the show for some reason. Judd Hirsch played the role of the sad-sack pretty well.
