Thats what I thought as well, I thought this was supposed to after T2 but then I read what I linked too above so I wasnt sure. At this point Im not sure when the hell this takes place, I just know I will check it out and hope it explains it along the way.

Because how is John supposed to de-age? If this is indeed a prequel to the first one, then he wouldn't be born yet. Yet in this movie he's gotta at least be thirty years old.

Its a prequel in the sense of the storyline since Salvation is set in 2018. From my understanding, Salvation takes place before John Connor sends Kyle Reese back to the 80s to warn Sarah Connor.

Thats what it said, honestly I think they really need to flesh it out so it makes sense because right now Im a little confused with how this one is supposed to mesh with the first 3.

            Yup.

This can still be a "prequel" in the sense that it is in the future and, if whatever happens in this movie hadn't happened...John would've never sent Kyle back to his mother.

I'm assuming the movie will end with the Terminator being sent back and John forcing Kyle to go back and save his mother.

The fun part comes from the fact that, by sending Kyle back, John is in a sense guaranteeing the fact that he is conceived.

Plus, McG is trying to (perhaps she has already agreed) to get Linda Hamilton to do a VO during the opening of Salvation to connect his movie with T2. If that happens, that should provide an explanation of the events I'm sure.

Don't forget that this is just the first of three new Terminator movies:

                      Re: Terminator Salvation

I was never a big fan of having Bale be Connor to begin with, don't like the guy at all(this was pre rant as well). It would be nice to have the same Connor for more than 1 movie. McG also doesn't impress me.

The thought of it being a prequel doesn't get me too excited either. Still gonna see it, just low expectations now

                        Re: Terminator Salvation

Every episode of SCC that I watch, I get more anticipation for this movie. I love that one thing caught my eye.

Christian Bale was McG's first choice to play John Conner, whom he calls "the most credible action star in the world right now." McG offered Bale the part while he was shooting "The Dark Knight," and he initially turned it down. Bale told McG that if he could refine the script to the point where it could be read on stage without any special effects and still be a compelling story, he would agree to star in it.
That is my dream. To have a movie that has a great story WITH special effects in a backdrop that I'm interested in. I think I need to scoop up the Terminator movies on Blu ray but I'm so wondering if I should wait until this hits theaters. Another quick thing of enjoyment:

To that end, McG brought Jonathan Nolan on board to rewrite the script. Nolan is the brother of director Christopher Nolan, and they collaborated on the screenplays for "The Prestige" and "The Dark Knight." Anthony E. Zuiker, the creator of TV's "CSI" franchise, also worked on the script. With the script in place, Bale signed on to play Conner, with the option to do two more "Terminator" movies if this one is successful.

                        HOW LOVELY IS THAT!!

Looks pretty good. Love the use of the NIN song in the trailer.

See, this is why I love Christian Bale. He doesn't just sign onto anything.

I've liked him in every movie he's been in, and every movie he's been in I've liked.

Agreed. One of the best actors around. This movie looks sick.
