Bill Simmons
Anyone know what's going on with him? Seems like he's written almost nothing since the NBA playoffs ended.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnTags: None -
Re: Bill Simmons
Well according to Wikipedia
In July 2008 Simmons announced that he will be taking 10 weeks off from writing columns for ESPN.com's Page 2 to concentrate on finishing his second book. Simmons will continue to create new episodes of the B.S. Report, and will resume his column before Week 1 of the NFL season.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Bill Simmons
I love his writing (despite his love for all things Boston), but I'm not a big fan of the podcasts, unless he gets an interesting guest like David Stern. Adam Corolla doesn't qualify.Comment

Re: Bill Simmons
Used to be a fan until I got tired of his Boston elitist schtick and his "I told you so" rants.
I can't stand when he says things like "trade (such & such) player for xxxxx", "why doesn't every GM think like me".
umm...because 9 out of 10 trades you propose are one-sided and idioticComment

I do agree that he's turned into too much of a homer. I thought it started during this past football season, every week we'd get 1,000 words on why the Patriots are the most incredible team in the history of sports. Maybe the success of his teams has changed his mindset or something because he never used to focus this much on Boston, nor was he as biased.
I still like reading his stuff for the most part though.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Bill Simmons
What keeps it manageable for me is the fact that he's aware that he's a huge homer with his love of Boston and can even make fun of himself for it from time to time, but he's on point a lot of the time in his basketball articles as long as he stays away from armchair-GM'ing.I do agree that he's turned into too much of a homer. Re: Bill Simmons
I've never heard of him, but he sounds like another Jim Rome, who I really can't stand too much.Comment

Re: Bill Simmons
My love of Simmons goes in cycles when i was in high school i read his stuff religiously and then fell out of it once he made the move to LA and every column was pretty much "lets see how many pop culture references i can slip into my work today", but since the Pats lost i've found him alittle more tolerable and i enjoy his nba-centric podcasts. As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment
