I'm in the other camp. This signaled to me Billy Joel going commercial and practically selling out. This album was a huge diversion from Piano Man.
True, but don't forget that Piano Man was released at least 5 years earlier (if I'm not mistaken), and if you listen to his albums after Piano Man - Turnstiles, The Stranger and 52nd Street - you see the process of becoming what he has become during Glass Houses. Anyway, Glass Houses was his last album I really liked because I didn't like his 80's style so much. I got most of his albums and he'll always be one of my favorite artists. And he's such a great rock pianist, second only to Elton John imo.
