Maybe after the fifth season, but AMC pushed their option. Smart move on their part.

Deal got done for seasons 5 and 6, but it's still not expected to air until next year.

This wait is going to be painful, but I'm glad they got the deal done so they can get working.

A lot of good shows coming up to fill the gap:
          Boardwalk Empire-Fall of 2011
          Breaking Bad-Summer of 2011
          Sons Of Anarchy-Sometime in 2011

As much as I like the show, I have to disagree.

Breaking Bad is good, but its not the same. Nothing is the same, that's my point. Its not a quality thing.

                      Re: Mad Men

And in other news NetFlix has just bought syndication rights to the show's first four seasons for it's online streaming service. "Additional seasons will be added each year after they air on AMC.". They will start airing July 27th.

Netflix will pay the show's producer, Lions Gate, between $750,000 and $900,000 per episode.

I wonder how much this will increase MadMen DVD sales?

They needed to do something after Showtime took down the seasons of Dexter they had and Starz is going to put a hold/delay on their shows from now on.

They still have Season 1 and 2 of Dexter for streaming. Are you saying they had Season 1-4 or 1-5 until recently?

They won't be there once the current deal expires in a month or two:

The change, part of a new arrangement, means no "Dexter" or "Californication" episodes from previous seasons will be available on Netflix, as had been the case under the current arrangement which covered the first two seasons of the shows.

Episodes of current originals will be on Showtime's authenticated broadband service, Showtime Anytime.

The new Showtime-Netflix deal will include the streaming of shows that are no longer on Showtime, such as "The Tudors" and "Sleeper Cell," which previously was not on Netflix.

I started going through these again (shock) while I wait for Netflix to send me the Sopranos (season 6 part 2). Anyway, I was watching the end of 5G with Dick and his brother. I never really got this vibe before last night, but it hit me last night how they were framing of the shots that there were major overtones alluding to a gun being Don's briefcase. I guess there were some lingering Sopranos rationalizations floating around, ha.

Also, Babylon. Seriously in the running for best episode of any show ever. Everything just hits it right on the head. The writing, the acting, and of course the ending montage.

Now that this is on Netflix instant, I'm about to start this series. I've always wanted to watch it, really looking forward to it.
