Anyone know much about outdoor TV's?

I'm putting in the process of putting in an outdoor kitchen/bar. I am planning on adding a television inside a covered bar area. The TV will mount on a back wall and will be covered well enough that it "should" never be touched by rain (The back of the TV will be protected by a wall, the sides will be a good 8-9' inside a the roof line and the front will be a good 15' inside the roof line. It would litterally take rain coming in at 90% to hit the TV as it will be mounted about 6-7 feet up along this wall.

I live in the Houston area, so cold weather is hardly a factor. Maybe 7 days a year the temperature falls below freezing and usually only for a few hours at a time.

My only real concern in humidty and heat. It's a tropical climate and from about April - September, it is very humid and the temperatures usually get in to the upper 90's on a daily basis.

Is anyone familiar with outdoor TV's? It seems they only make 26,32,37 and 46 inch models. The 37 inch is over $2K and the 46" is over $5K.

Does anyone have any experience with outdoor televisions? Is it necessary to have an outdoor TV if the only element the TV will be exposed to is humidity and heat? How long can I expect a regular TV to last in these elements?

My thought is this. Right now at Costco, I can pick up a 42" 1080P LCD offbrand (AOC Envision)TV for $799. If this TV only lasts a year, I'm out $800. This means that I could buy a new TV every year for 6 years and still come out ahead...and I doubt the outdoor TV would last 6 years without problems.

To me, this seems like the logical way to go, unless the TV will be damaged in a shorter amount of time.

    Any input would be appreciated.

I've tried several google searches, but the details seem to be very limited.

    Thanks!
