He was in pretty much every scene. What episode were you watching?

Yeah there was plenty of a mostly frustrated Charlie. Can't understand why everyone didn't love:
      • Mac cat eyes
      • Dee's made up song "most men find me to be an 8 or a 9 out of ten, and I am available to any interested men" (etc.,etc.)
      • The "rape" scene where Dennis apparently gets "hurt" as Mac's asking him if he has a boner and "does it hurt"?
      • Charlie telling Dee "I'll smack your face off of your face"
      • You gotta pay the "troll toll" to get in.
      • The final song with a yellow clad Charlie revealing his true reasons for the play. The expression on his face left me on the floor.

        * The Cat eyes were great, along with the hissing and audience reactions!

        * Dee's made up song was not at all funny, but her protesting her duet with Dennis was priceless!

"You're wanting me to say that I want to make love to a little baby tiny boy"

"But I've explained this to you Dee, that I'm talking about the spirit of this man, it's like a little boy. It's a metaphor"

"You keep using that word, but I'm not convinced you know what that means"

        * The rapings....err sexings from behind were alright

        * Charlie's "smacking" references were so funny. His "I'm up here" was not nearly as funny.

        * Troll toll was classic. Enough said.

        * Chalie's secret finale was by far my favorite part. They're all frozen on stage and he breaks the silence with angelic crooning. The descending from the skies on a giant sun decked out in a yellow suit and top hat, the song, the way he sung it, everything about that part had me dying. I think I've watched that part/song like 4 times already, lol.

At first I wasn't feeling the episode (expectations way too high) but after viewing it again, I think it's really great.

I thought the season as a whole was awesome, and I don't know where people are getting that the show is losing a step.

        My season end awards.

Favorite Episode: The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis
Runners up: Mac and Charlie Die, The Gang Gets Extreme

        MVP: Charlie

        Most improved Character: Dennis

Favorite Scene: Charlie and Dennis at the beginning of "Mac's banging the waitress" when Dennis is trying to befriend Charlie
Just a couple runners up: Taco Bed, Charlie's Finale, Pepe Sylvia, Cricket's escape, Charlie's finale, Dennis and Dee at the Gym

Should've clarified, but Charlie pretty much disappeared when the musical started...he should've played the Night Man...I thought the script was poorly conceptulized

I liked the song better than the protest but liked both.

Just the whole way it unfolds, as his marriage proposal becomes evident, and then the stupid smile he gives the waitress. One of the great ASIP scenes.

I didn't care for The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis episode and wasn't blown away by others. Still, a lot of hilarious stuff, but I'd still rank this season last, by no way indicating it's "jump the shark" time. I'm really looking forward to next season.

How often do you see the writer/director once a play/musical starts? Never. Unless it's some egocentric prick who wrote the production who thinks that they need to write, direct, and star in their own production. Having him out there would have completely taken away from what they were trying to accomplish from a realist standpoint.

The whole point of what I'm saying is that Charlie is the Nightman...you dont take your funniest cast member out of the finale.

Like I said, poorly conceptualized script.

I agree that it would have been better with more Charlie but I still thought it was great. Why lament on what could have been? Why not appreciate it for the strong-arm rapin' that it was?

I'm at a lost to understand how you feel Charlie was not an integral part of the finale.

It took Charlie out of his niche and completely neutralized his identity....it's like making Adrian Peterson a third down back.

I'll say it again, the episode was good but poorly conceptualized...thats just my opinion, though.

I see your point a little bit, but I thought a trying to be restrained Charlie was hilarious. Hey, I just thought of another reason I loved this episode!

I can't wait until the new season, my cable company started FX HD the month after the last season ended. Charlie's antics in High Res will make me very happy.
