Anyone ever had this problem with the DirecTV DVR HR21?

So I noticed last night that some of the shows I have set to auto record whenever they're on weren't recorded. I go to the guide to look and see if there's the "Triple R" logo thing by the shows and there was nothing. I go to the Prioritizer and it only showed a show or two (out of like, 8) that had episodes scheduled to record. The To-Do list was the same sort of thing, not showing the amount of programming it SHOULD be showing.

I deleted things off the Prioritizer to reschedule them to record the series, but to no avail at that night. It would automatically add the shows back to the prioritizer with no episodes scheduled to record.

I said screw it and went to bed. Today I woke up and saw in my prioritizer and to-do list that there was a correct number of shows scheduled to record. I said "cool" but wanted to rearrange it so it schedules some shows before others. That ruined it again.

Sorry if that wasn't too clear. Anyone else had any experience with this?

Never had anything like that. I have missed an episode because the guide data wasn't correct, but that is it. Check at dbstalk.com, they have a forum there for each box and can help you out. First thing I would do is restart the box. Go to the menu, settings, reset, and then restart. It won't wipe anything off, just restart it like a computer.

Hmm, it's weird. Now everything seems to be okay. All the stuff is listed under the to-do list and the prioritizer is fine.

      Weird stuff.

      Thanks for the suggestions, though.

I've had a million problems with mine. I set games to record every nite when I'm at work and over half the time, they do not record. The SD version doesn't give me problems, but HD channels don't record. I hit play and I get a black screen that asks me if I want to delete.

I've had DTV out here and they changed some things out, but it did not help. For some reason I also do not get a signal on odd number transponders on 101 C or S (I can't remeber which one).

        It's always something.

First go to the view signal strength screen when it rains and when its not. When its not raining, these should be in the 90s, if they are not, you need to call DTV and have them come adjust your dish.

I'm having a similar problem with my SD boxes since getting my HD box put in (the 101 signal issue). Turns out I need a new switch. The switch that works with just the SD boxes appears to be screwing up now that the HD box has been brought into the mix, even though it's only screwing up with the HD boxes... hope that helps. Whether it does or not, you'd need to get a DTV guy out to get you a new box so you might as well give them a call.

I've read somewhere that the DVR will start recording some DirecTV advertising programming onto your box when your not currently using both tuners. When you go to see what's been recorded you don't see anything, but its hidden on there somewhere. I was told that it doesn't effect your DVR or your storage space at all.

I've got 2 DVR's and they will both start recording at the weirdest times.
1 of my DVR's is "recording" now at 12:50 am

it's not kept in the same section. they have advertisements for movies and stuff that you can click to through a different menu. it wouldn't effect anything you wanted to record, not a big deal at all there, and actually useful for anyone that wants to check em out... unnoticed for anyone who doesn't.

No problems with mine for the last week. I think the last update fixed whatever problem I was having.

try this: go to the program that typically records (for us, it's a kids program - something on nickelodeon...it had the numerous "r" for recording stacked on top of each other).

go the area that allows you to record numerous times (sorry, it's late and i'm kinda foggy, but it's when you want to record a number of episodes). go in there and change all your settings so it won't record anything (even if you've never set this to record, just delete them out).

this worked for us. the record light still comes on at the strangest times, but it's not doing the multiple recordings like it was before i changed that (it's the only thing i could think of doing that might stop that from happening). it may work...it may not, but it's worth trying.

It seems like my problem corrected itself, thanks for suggestions!
