    90% for games,10% for Blu-Ray. Thinking #1

Does the actual HDMI cable matter? PS3 is the only thing I have with a HDMI port (unless my 360 breaks again and they send back one with HDMI ) so should I get the offical PS3 one or are they all the same?

So it doesn't matter wich one I get?
Though I live in Canada so no I'm not ordering anything online from the US. That $15 hat from the NBA store wich ended up costing $40 and the orignal Guitar Hero wich ended up costing $120 thanks to customs fees was the end of me ordering online.

1080p isn't necessary unless the TV is at least 50''. I mean, if you want to go for it, go right ahead, but you won't really see a difference between 1080p and 720p unless you're looking 2 inches from the screen.

            I'd go Vizio > Insignia > Samsung

first off, when given the choice go big (eliminating the smaller sammy)
2nd, since you're 90% gaming, the Vizio has a much better response time than the Insignia. Also, the Vizio is 2 inches bigger. The Insignia also doesn't have PIP/PBP.

I know PIP is picture in picture but what's PBP? Normally I'd think play by play but don't see what that has to do with a TV?

People seem to like the Vizio on the site but being so cheap makes me wonder if there's something wrong with it.

              I thought 1080p was good for 40+?

First off, PBP is picture-by-picture. You can a HD-DVD or blu ray movie playing on one half of the screen and be playing a video game on the other half. You only get the audio for one.

I use it a lot when i want to watch something on tv but also want to get some gaming in.

You'll hear differing opinions on what size tv it takes and the viewing distance for 1080p vs. 720p debate to be worth having.

I've seen 720p plasmas that look better than a lot of 1080p lcds.

That could be cool for playing a sports game next to the real game.

I have a Vizio 47" and have no problems with it at all (Going on 4 months). I play The Show with PIP up so I can watch/listen to TV while gaming and its pretty nice I must say.

I'd go with the Vizio, the cost is great and the quality is good. Some people are picky with colors and the Vizio doesn't have a really deep dark black compared to some other TVs but that wasnt a big concern for me

Why do people assume that something is wrong with it just because it's cheap. I have a 37 inch Vizio that I've had since Christmas and it works fine.

It's the American culture. I have a 32inch Vizio and absolutely love it. Thing is, if it wasn't for Colin Cowherd doing the pitch for it on ESPN radio I wouldn't have even thought about buying one.

In the past year, I've had at least 3 friends make the same "why is it cheaper than everyone else" comment. Recommended them trying it out...guess what? ALL of them loved it and obviously kept it. Got another friend who's getting a Vizio as soon as his wife let's him.

Granted Sony, Samsung, Panasonic are gonna outperform a Vizio but to me, they aren't several hundred dollars better. Sony's are way overpriced.

Yeah...I'm happy with my 37" Vizio I got about a year ago. It's been great, had a minor issue with the first one I got from Costco, but that was just a defect not a normal issue. The one I got to replace it is fine and has been perfect. Will the more expensive ones maybe have a bit better blacks, etc? Yeah, probably. Though I doubt I'd really notice.

Either way, Vizio's a more legit brand, I would be kinda wary of Sceptre and some of those even cheaper sets...look at AVGForums and check out reviews/impressions first...

I'm Canadian actually. I kinda have a get what you pay for type attitude wich is why I was also wondering about the HDMI cable. Like for example a $300 PC probably isn't going to run Crysis and look at the Wii versions of Rock Band & Dead Rising compared to the 360 ones. Either way it's an upgrade over a SNES. (My current TV is 27",SD and only has one speaker working, unreadable text on a ton of games and the screen cut off on others)

I've never even heard of or seen a Spectre TV. Sanyo is the other option but I couldn't any info on it far as response time and the such.
