Thinking About Auditioning For A TV Show But Got A Few Questions.

So yea, over the past couple of weeks, I've been thinking about auditioning for a TV or Movie(haven't decided yet) just to try it out and see what the experience is like. I like to consider myself a fun, outgoing person who likes to make others feel good. Whether it be making them laugh, giving them advice, helping them out in a situation, etc. But I have NEVER tried out for anything other than Sports and was wondering if there were a few folks on here that have because I have a couple questions for those that have or for those that know people that have done this before.

    1. What did you audition for?
    2. Is there a difference between auditioning for a TV show and auditioning for a Movie?
    3. How did you go about preparing for it? Especially doing one for the first time.
    4. How did it go or how did you do?
    5. What advice would you have for somebody doing it for the first time?

Appreciate the input as always, my fellow OS'ers.

Get used to a lot of rejections. If you can get over that. I say good luck. It is tough business. We were going to get my son into modeling. One person said they wouldn't do it. They are pretty hard on the kids. Like saying thing that are wrong on the kid. Like he is to skinny to fat his face is shape wrong. And they do it right in front your kid.

In that case, you're a lock. Of the 300,000,000 people in the US, only 275,000,000 would describe themselves that wawy.

Having never done it, I don't see what kind of advice would help you.
You either have what it takes or you don't.

Go in, do your 'scene' and find out if you're good or not - which I'm sure they'll tell you right away.

You never know, you could be the next "Kelso". That douchebag got discovered at a bar and now we all have to suffer through his self-absorbed and horrible TV shows.

Maybe you'll be the next guy to make horrible celebrity reality shows and reintroduce leather-zipper jackets or headbands like he did trucker hats.
Man do I hate that idiot.

I think you need an agent.

I don't know how it is with movies/shows, but I've done a few commercials. You have to have the look and facial expressions they want. I did a commercial where I played a homless drug addict, so for the audition I didn't shave for a few weeks. I let my hair grow and didn't wash it for almost a week. I played a football player in one, so for the audition I went in clean shaven.

It's all about the look they're after at that moment. And your facial expressions. I took some classes and the woman taught me the stuff they want you to do. It was expensive ($60/hour, I did seven I think), but I made my money back the minute I got my first part. Good luck.

EDIT: It helped that I knew someone who was doing commercials, so he would hook me up with the paticulars on where/when auditions were being held. I never did it serious, so I never thought to get an agent. You don't need one for commercials, esspecially just starting out.
