    The Black List Vol. 1

This collection of interviews on HBO was fantastic. If you don't know about it, here's the link:

They did a really fantastic job with this. Despite the title and subjects, it's not just for black people. It's a bunch of intelligent, successful people discussing their perspective. Now I'm glad I didn't switch HBO for showtime

And shame on me, I didn't know that Slash was black.

I had no idea Slash was black either. The Chris Rock interview was hilarious.

That's what's crazy. I know plenty other facts about GnR, and I can play all of their stuff on guitar. In all my time playing with other people messing around with GnR songs, watching Youtube vids of Slash, discussing his playing style, no one EVER mentioned he was black.

I knew it. I used to brag to my white friends that the best guitarists are black (Slash, Hendrix, Prince)

True. And don't forget Bassists too. Victor Wooten, Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, and probably more that I'm missing.

EDIT : And aholbert32 as far as awesome black guitarists don't forget Tom Morello.

Isn't Slash mixed-race? That was my impression... Same with Morello.

They would have hanged both of them for having white girlfriends in the 60s, so they're black, lol. It's just a roll of the genetic dice that they are less black than say, Drew Gooden, Barack Obama or Boris Diaw.

Hah, yeah... They would've certainly qualified under the old "1-drop rule".

wwharton.. that's pretty funny. Don't forget all their precursors like T-Bone Walker and Freddy King -- all the best guitarists were black dudes. They taught you right in Baltimore I guess. T-Bone was Hendrix before there was Hendrix:
