    Spider-Man 4

Looks like a May 2011 release. As much as I hated SM3, I'm a sucker for comic book movies.

Now on Ebay, a chance to buy your way into the film starting at $5,000:

Off-topic, but I just now found out that a Venom spin-off is in the works.

Any more news about this? Same director? Cast?

A new MJ is a must, director as well.

They just need to skip Spider-man 4 and do what they did with Batman.

Is this going to be "Spiderman 4" or reboot Spiderman?

I'd rather they do a reboot because the way Raimi and Co. pushed the series it'd only lead to very predictable and hokey directions. I'd like to see a Spidey series that keeps the same kind of vibe for the most part but just a bit darker.

I don't think Raimi will be back but you can bet Tobey and Dunst will be. They have no career these days besides Spiderman so they won't refuse the money since they got bills to pay like everyone else.

That being said the only way I'll see this movie is if Dunst is run over by a bus in the first 5 minutes and hopefully this is shown in the trailers so I can hype myself for it. She's incredibly ugly in a trailerpark trash kind of way, is even worse as an actress and her Mary Jane character is perhaps the most annoying in history. Why a guy like Spiderman and his Green Goblin buddy have a hard on for a whiny, flat chested, pasty white chick who won't even go to the dentist to fix her teeth is one of cinema's great mysteries.

            Re: Spider-Man 4

I'd rather they reboot as well, for too many reasons:

            1) I personally think the what is currently a trilogy is a rather complete story. Peter and MJ are back together, his uncle's murder is no longer his source of responsibility, and all of his struggles are resolved, be it within himself or with Harry, etc.

            2) The direction started out with a very big emphasis in comic-book lifestyle, and its transition into SM2 was so great that they went all out in a combination of the cheesiness of 1 and the inner struggles of 2, and it didn't work out the way most people had hoped for. Sam Raimi did not deliver in any way, shape, or form that Christopher Nolan and Jon Favreau did. New direction = new reboot in my book.

            3) Tobey Maguire was lovable at the beginning, but I would rather grow into a new young face. I'm not instantly pointing at Shia LaBeouf or Jim Sturgess, I'm just saying that he himself had a tiring look going into the third movie. It was certainly a cash-cow and visual spectacle, but I don't think he wants much more to do with the series either.

            4) Nobody wants a Spider-Man 4. Most people didn't like SM3 (though I loved it), and though it will bring in a lot of money, a reboot is best in the long run. They can redo characters and portray them in a different light (hopefully more Nolan-esque), and the following sequels to a successful original will bring in more money than more and more sequels. A break this long (2011) or one more year after that is a good rest for people to forgive and forget, and try again.

If there really is a reboot, setting up Venom for the long run is key, IMO. Brock and Parker should have an ongoing feud from the beginning of series with their photography jobs at the Bugle, which would also add tension/drama to Peter's normal life.

Weren't Brock and Peter friends for the most part in the beginning? I'd set it up so that there's some kind of misunderstanding or something.

Then again it'd be too similar to the Harry Osborne situation. I just want Venom to be a more fully fleshed out villain.

Rebooting the series won't work, it hasn't even been 10 years since they started it. I don't wan to go see another movie about a superhero's origin. For a reboot, you have to retell the story, doing so would make the whole first movie a bore.

Continue the series, but just take it in a different director. Either get Mary Jane out the fold (Death...New Job in new City) ETC and introduce some new characters and some new villains.

About Raimi i hear he wouldn't mind doing a 4th if Sony allowed him, my guess is he'll be involved, if anyone is to leave, i bet it'll be Kristen and Tobey. Yes it might be strange continuing the series with new characters but its better than a complete reboot

Never. They were just to guys that worked together and Brock never really liked Parker to begin with.

If I had movie money and a license, I would restart the series with Spider-man's greatest foe, the Kingpin. This is the mastermind and funding behind all these villians. He is the one that makes it happen.

They need to drop the love story, and make a darker Spider-man like he is suppose to be. Spider-man is my favorite character along with Venom, I still have over hundreds of comics; and after that third movie I still have sick feeling after they tore my favorite character, Venom, up.

                              MJ: Where's Harry?
Peter: I don't know. I think he's still mad at me for not telling him who Spiderman is.
