Get a better deal on the monitor. Now let me digress. Did you pay 750 or 550? If it's only 550, I'd say great deal. Buy a Videocard for about 100 bucks and call it a day. 750, you can do way better. Try NewEgg or Tiger Direct. I build computers and use those sites to buy almost all of my components. Now Tiger Direct sells refurbs, that's a great way to get a steal.....

Re: Is this a good deal for a computer?
I think that people were looking at the bundle price on the Circuit City page. $550 is really a good deal. Especially with your tower specs. You'd still probably wanna drop a Videocard in it. You can get a 512mb card that'll handle gaming and HD streaming for right around 100 bucks or less. 3 gigs of RAM sounds like a lot, but since it's shared on a Vista machine it really isn't that much. Vista is a total RAM hog. But the original deal is really good. Keep it.Note to Tiburon Marketing:

If you have the money to spare I would get another gig of RAM just because Vista is a big load.

Re: Is this a good deal for a computer?
Sorry for confusing everyone. The links were just to show you guys what was included in the package (another thing I got was a year of Norton anti-virus for 70 dollars with a 70 dollar mail-in rebate). But yeah, as of now, the CPU is still sitting in the hallway, but I think I'm going to keep it. Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely look into another gig or ram and a video card sometime in the near future. They seem like easy, inexpensive upgrades.
Now, I'm trying to find an inexpensive copy of Office 2007. I made another thread about it, but if anyone knows where I can either get a cheap copy, or if someone can tell me what an "academic" version of Office is (because those sell for much cheaper online), I'd really appreciate.
Again, thanks for the comments and suggestions.Comment

Re: Is this a good deal for a computer?
An academic version is the same as the retail version you would buy in a store. The only difference is the license. It is meant to be used by students and teachers for academic purposes. Technically your not supposed to use it if you don't fall into those circumstances, but if you don't really care, it will work fine if you go that route.
Well.. . I don't care, but I do fall into one of those categories anyway.
But like on EBay I see people selling them unopened, and they say something like "three legal installs" or whatever. Will the license prevent me from installing it more than three times, or on more than three computers, or will I be able to have unlimited installations, just not "legally".Comment
