However with the SXRD it's like roulette. You've been lucky so far. I've already had everything replaced that could ever get replaced so it's good now.

Plus the TV tech told us that even if you don't have a warranty they will replace one bulb per year.
That sucks, how long have you had the TV that it had to have everything replaced?

Thanks, I went in there and the lamp life is at 0h. Wonder what that means. LOL!

Guess I'm one of the few with the aging fossils of a 51" CRT RP HDTV. Got it back in 05 and it's been a solid performer. Like someone else mentioned, the only issue it has is the viewing angles but me and my girlfriend happen to be the ones that use it 95% of the time so it's a non-issue.

If I had a smaller living room, that the space it takes up would be an issue. I'll probably go with a plasma next ime although I am intrigued by HD projectors (they are just too dang expensive though).

Actually that is right. You do two years, and you're paying $189.50 per year. I think you're off on the 3 years though, because that's actually 200 per year. Either way, much less than the 269 per year.

I did have lemon, but the bad components are all replaced and it is beautiful now.

            HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had my set for now almost two years in February, I have been going nuts with switching back forth worth others people settings from AVS, I have came across some great settings along the way, but still felt somethings missing. And Tonight I decide to rest all my settings and set my TV on Vivid with only a changed to sharpness, which I dropped the sharpness to 10 and the color to 36 and now my TV looks freaking amazing right now, I'm so shocked I never tried this in the past. Is there a down fall using vivid, because man my set looks great right now, I mean great.

Also when I game with my PS3 and I think I wanna use these settings too, I run both my cable box and PS3 through HDMI. I also wanna know whats the benefits are using game mode on when I'm playing my PS3. I also notice when using Vivid there is no advanced mode, so I don't have to worry going crazy messing with those settings.

I'm kicking myself for not trying this settings before.

Football, making changes your eyes won't instantly see everything. Make sure to give it a few days, which your eyes will get conditioned to the new settings and you should be able to tell better by then if these settings are a huge improvement.

Now I need to find out what that 0h is on my lamps life? LOL!

I know the whole let your eyes adjust thing, I watched my SET this morning and I'm still in aww on how better it looks. I already stated I have it set in VIVID mode, so what is it exactly anyway, whatever the mode is it's great. I Played the NHL09 demo n these settings a nd was like wow. I'm still yet to play NCAA or Madden on these setting but I think I found the great settings for my set. I don't here many people talk about vivid mode. Some say it's torch mode, but I say BUll, they wouldn't put the option in the set if it wasn't good to use. Anyway I'm happy with then minimal changes I had to make.

Frank, uhm, its your TV and do what you need to do. But its not only here that people talk about torch mode, same goes over at AVS. Professionals over there even say not to do it unless you don't mind spending $150 to buy a new lamp sooner than normal.

The PQ on my 60" XBR and 60" A3000 are fantastic. I bought the A3000 earlier this Spring due to a great deal. I now have a huge TV in my bedroom and TV room. The PQ IMO is pretty close to the best LCD with the SSE being the major downside. I plan on keeping the A3000 for a while as I don't really see any reason to upgrade it right now.

I hear ya, most of the settings I used over at AVS had the picture setting to max with with and brightness setting to 50. I'm sorry without me having my picture setting to max, everything is way to dark and looks like crap. Also I just realize you have to set you TV on how good it looks for you, I found that you can't use others settings, even if it's the same modle everyone set is different.

Anyway for anyone who owns the KDS-50A2000 try these settings and tell me what you think.

I found my settings for life....LOL....I'm stoked, My friend told me to use VIVID an long time ago and I said nah, I was using this guys settings called AVbill at avs forums, and Man I set my set up to Vivid yesterday for both my cable box and PS3 and it look freaking incredible.... I played NCAA and man O man it looked like it did in the stores crisp clean and just beautiful. I will list the settings below if you wanna try them. I watched 2 NFL games on these settings and I was just so happy, It's like I got a new TV...

                      Picture
                      Picture Mode - Vivid
                      Advanced Iris - Auto 1
                      Picture - 95
                      Brightness - 55
                      Color - 40
                      Hue - 0
                      Color Temp. - Neutral
                      Sharpness - 10
                      Noise Reduction - Low

                      Setup
                      Game - Mode Off
                      Color Matrix - Standard
Power Saving - On (My bulb is over year and a half old,but I still keep it on)
                      Cooling Mode- Normal

so who ever says run from VIVID, I disagree big time.
