That track really stood out to me as something "different" for them.

The album was supposed to arrive until Thursday from Amazon, but it showed up yesterday! Liked what I heard through the first listen. Phantom Limb might be the best post-Layne song (so far).
It will be a great couple of weeks for music - my other favorite band, Filter, releases a new album next week. It's available for streaming, but I want to focus on the new AIC album this week.

I wasn't impressed with this disc at first, but it's definitely growing on me. It may not be quite as good as BGWTB, but it's still well worth the listen.

It grows on you the more you listen. For whatever reason Pretty Done is my favorite track on the album so far. Seems like it could have been a b-side for their Self Titled album.

Listened to this album about 7-8 times now and it has really grown on me. "Phantom Limb" is probably still my favorite track on here, but "Pretty Done" (just screams 1994 to me, which rules) and "Lab Monkey" (that killer section with the 'Haaaaaad Eeeeeenough...' parts is just so sweet) aren't far behind.

I don't think I will ever enjoy a single song on this album as much as "A Looking in View" from the last album, but AS A WHOLE, this album is just as good as the last one.

Kind of off-topic, but I was watching/listening to AIC Unplugged. It amazes me how I get chills watching it every single time. Layne's voice was so chilling, so unique. Bah RIP.

I will have to give their new album a listen,

As great as Layne's voice was, it was always better when Jerry was harmonizing with him.

I'm really into "Low Ceiling" right now. The only two tracks I'm lukewarm about at this point are "Lab Monkey" and "Breath on a Window".

Really? The chorus to "Lab Monkey" gets stuck in my head several times a day.

Haaaaaad Eeeeeenough... no more tears for me left to cryyyyyy...

                    So catchy!

Yep. That section of "Lab Monkey" is great. "Low Ceiling" is, imo, the weakest song on the album, but it's still a good song. Gotta say that "Breath on a Window" is still probably my favorite but "Scalpel," "Hollow, " "Stone," "Phantom Limb," "Lab Monkey, " and "Choke," are all superb and probably the standouts for me.

And upon another listen through the album, "Low Ceiling" grows a little more on me.

I am not old enough to have been able to experience the release day excitement and all of the albums recorded with Layne, but every AIC album has been a grower for me. There are unique and intriguing portions to nearly every song in their catalogue, but it sometimes takes a few listens though to discover them.

Heard stone on the radio the other day really liked it. Had no idea the new album was out. I'm going to check it out on iTunes more this weekend.

After a million listens I think I can finally do a ranked order of the songs on TDPDH:

                            1. Choke
                            2. Stone
                            3. Lab Monkey
                            4. Phantom Limb
                            5. Breath on a Window
                            6. Hung on a Hook
                            7. Scalpel
                            8. Low Ceiling
                            9. Voices
                            10. Hollow
                            11. TDPDH
                            12. Prett Done

"Pretty Done" is the only one that just does nothing for me. "Voices" is the next single about to be out.

                              I would rank them:

                              1. Stone
                              2. Phantom Limb

                              6. Voices
                              7. Choke
                              8. TDPDH
                              9. Pretty Done
                              10. Hung on a Hook
                              11. Lab Monkey
                              12. Breath on a Window

I almost always skip Lab Monkey and Breath on a Window. I didn't like Voices much at first, but it's growing on me.
