    Weird DVD/Movie Playback Problem

Ok, I dont get whats going on here and am left to assume the Toshiba SD-3950 DVD player is just a POS but I figured I would ask you guys here to see if there is something Im missing.

Ive burned a movie to my computer, Ive then put this movie on a DVD using convertxtodvd, Ive done this numerous times without a problem. Here is the kicker, there have been a few movies that will not work on the Toshiba DVD player mentioned above, however, these same movies have all worked just fine on my PS3, my Panasonic 5-Disc changer and my laptop. When playing it on the Toshiba player it stutters about once every 2-3 seconds and on the others there is no sign of stutter at all, what would be causing this to happen on one player and not the others? Ive also tested other movies on this same player and they have worked, it just seems like there are a few that just want to be a giant pain in the *** for some reason. Ive tried switching discs thinking it was a disc problem and the stutter was still there, even though that disc was proven to work on the Toshiba player previously when viewing a different movie. Im clueless, is there anyone out there that might have an idea about this one at all?

Hell, the same movie works on my damn portable DVD player so this one player must just be garbage I guess but Im hoping someone else here has an idea as to what might be the culprit.

    Re: Weird DVD/Movie Playback Problem

I can't offer help but i've had this issue about once or twice with NFL games that I trade for, for some reason sometimes i'll get a couple discs that can't play/stutters like crazy (like you mentioned) on my older model Panasonic but plays perfectly well on every other DVD player in the house.

It's probably a disc drive thing or a fluke of some sort.

      Re: Weird DVD/Movie Playback Problem

Yeah, Im checking a theory right now that the Toshiba DVD player has trouble with video's that are converted from PAL to NTSC and that is what is causing my stutter problem. I came to the realization that a few movies I still have on my CPU are exactly 25.0fps which is PAL and the one that works on the Toshiba DVD player is 23fps, in fact out of the files still on my comp the 3 that wont work are all 25fps. Im currently burning a video that is 23fps and if it works then I will have figured it out finally. I will update in about 15-20 minutes once it finishes burning the movie and I can check and see if my theory holds true or not.

EDIT- My theory held true, it seems that the DVD player has trouble when a movie is converted from PAL to NTSC. I burned a movie that was in its orriginal state (23fps) and converted it to NTSC and besides some annoying lines going through the screen it didnt stutter or anything. Im assuming the black lines were from the convert and other movies have played and havent had those lines so Im not worried there.
