Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
The first and only intro I ever learned was Smoke on the Water, my brother taught it to me. Learn it with Kurt H and Joe S in the room too. It was cool it was before Kurt was big time. He was still in High School and Joe S was my brother's guitar teacher in Berkerly. Then Joe went off on some sick intro that he made up. Good time. Wow that was about 25 years ago, where does the time fly!Comment

Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
I've been thinking about trying to teach myself how to play again. I just wish I had more time. Damn college of business.

Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
My college has a basics for intro to guitar playing class. I'm interested in taking it if I have some electives come open and it's still available.Comment

Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
I always wanted to learn, but was too busy with Sports. My brother play in a band called Contempt. They played with Exodus a lot. I also, remember Billie taking guitar lessons in the 6 grade. I wanted to but baseball started and Billie gave up on baseball. lol He took lesson at a place called Fiat in Pinole. I still think about taking some lesson. Maybe it is in my genes!Comment

Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
I grew up with Kirk in El Sol. He went to the same HS as my brother and they were good friends. I was about 8 years younger, but they still let me hang out. I have been to so many concerts and back stage at a lot of them as a kid. My brother had a friend in every band you can think of. lol Joe was cool. He was my brother's favorite teacher. I guy name George was also his teacher. I think Joe taught George too. I am out the loop now. Especailly since my brother died 9 years ago and being older now, I am just not into the rock life style. lol But it is was fun going up where I did!
I still see Billie Joe from time to time. His band blew up so big. I still can't believe they made it that big.

Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
I bought myself a book about 18 months ago and didn't get very far, really apart from some very minor progressions. The only thing I don't like about books are that they leave too much to the imagination. I have a couple of DVDs I want which, along with the book, should be good for awhile I hope.I always wanted to learn, but was too busy with Sports. My brother play in a band called Contempt. Re: Eight Year Old Guitar player.
It would be cool to rip it up like some do. I like playing the intro to "Smoke on the Water". That is the only thing I can play. I can't believe I can still play after all these years. My brother had a sweet finder. I sold if for about 5 grand. It was a classic I should have kept, but oh well. I still have his Kramer.I bought myself a book about 18 months ago and didn't get very far, really apart from some very minor progressions.
