Yeah, the show just isn't as good as it used to be.

And Penny teaching the guys about fishing lol.
Liked the episode. The ending was great.

The best episode of this season so far for me personally has been "The 43 Peculiarity". The reason - No Amy or Bernadette. The show is so much better when it was just the original 5. Penny, Leonard and Raj have been pretty much on the peripheral this season which sucks.

I think Big Bang has been one of the more consistently funny shows and not once have I thought that "it isn't as funny as it used to be." I can say that about How I Met Your Mother but Big Bang, no.

Have to disagree big time. To me "The 43 Peculiarity" was the worst of the season. You have Leonard getting jealous over Penny's fellow English student, which eventually devolves into jealous boyfriend crap that includes Leonard telling the student that Penny's boyfriend is a gang member. So the show tries to advance the low chemistry relationship that is Penny and Leonard. I'm OK with them together as long as they don't make half a show about it. At first I was interested in a potential new girl for Leonard, but now I realize it would be just more revisiting of Penny-Leonard.

Raj and Howard trailing Sheldon to find out what "43" means was OK.

Amy and Bernadette are well woven into the show and are not overused. (IMO). Penny is at her best playing off the guys (particularly Sheldon) but still delivers when just hanging out with the girls.

Crashed and burned early with How I Met Your Mother but agree with you about BB.

As much as a I like TBBT, and it is still my favorite comedy on TV, it's missing something that most of the early episodes had and something that was always my favorite scenes, and that's the Penny/Sheldon interactions. I know they have been neighbors for a while now and they are more used to each other, but it's the character of Amy that I think gets in the way. Before her there were lots of those funny Penny/Sheldon interactions, they just don't seem to be there as much now with Amy in the show. Still a crazy funny show, the last two episodes have been gold, I just want more of those interactions back in the show.

I agree. That's what I was getting at in my previous post when I said the The 43 Peculiarity episode was the best so far this season. The only reason I said it was the best was because Amy & Bernadette were not in it. I think those two characters are taking up too much airtime away from the original cast. As you say, the Penny/Sheldon moments are few and far between now. Raj & Leonard haven't done much at all this season.

Like I said before, main reason for that(extra main characters) is cause CBS wants bigger female audience. Just sucks how having more characters really takes away from the show. Amy is nothing like she was when they first had her(she was basically a girl version of Sheldon. Now she's like a smarter version of Penny). Won't mind seeing them in every other episode at most, but that's it.

Though the funniest "group" moment(meaning all 3 girls and the 4 guys) was...

That's the type of stuff they should have in the show.

Amy, a smarter version of Penny? They both have distinct personalities, distinct attire, distinct taste in men,a distinct body type, and a distinct sense of humor. They don't look or act anything alike.

Yeah, I don't think she's anything like Penny at all. She's a pretty distinct character.

Personally, I think the problems with the show (and btw, I still think it's very good) are twofold - I'm not a huge fan, personally of Amy. She can have some funny moments, but she takes away from a lot of the other characters. They liked using her so much that she seemingly gets more screen time than everyone but Sheldon at this point.

The second reason, related to the first, is the normalizing of Sheldon. I know, he's still not normal by any means, but they've made him a lot more human and down to earth than he started out before. They've also positioned him as the main character of the show, rather than it being more about Leonard. The show works best when Leonard is the character in the center who interacts with all of these other interesting characters. Now Leonard is on the outside, and his character isn't as quirky as the others, so it doesn't work as well. I think they did this, to an extent, with Penny as well. In the beginning, her character was pretty funny, and the differences between her and Leonard helped give it chemistry. But they've changed Penny's character a lot, imo. She's a lot more sarcastic and whatnot, and they've tried to make the character appear not as ditsy.

How I Met Your Mother has done the same thing. I love Barney as a character, and I get they wanted to give him more, but when they made him more "human" or realistic, and focused the show more on him, I think it hurt the show. Ted is the narrator and, in theory, the main character. And he's not all that funny. The other characters are all much funnier, so when they get more serious and it's on him to be more funny, it just doesn't work all that well, especially when they want to swing it back to him being the focus like they do in most of the series's big episodes.

I get that if you have a popular character, you want to do more with them, but I think it often upsets the balance of the show.

New episode tonight. Sorta surprised by that since I'd think shows would start next week at the earliest(some don't start until 2 more weeks)

The first 6 words in that preview really makes me wanna see this episode to see how funny it ends up, since it's Sheldon of all people with that happening to.
