    Should I switch to Firefox?

Okay, I'm tired of not being able to upload pics and embed videos to the site. It seems that it's a problem with IE. I'm running IE7, so it's not an out od date version problem. Plus I've heard that overall Firefox is just better. That web designers actually can design better webpages that run with it. So here's where I stand. I have the .exe downloaded and ready to run. Now my question is this. Will I lose all of my IE shortcuts and stored passwords in the process of transitioning? I don't want to lose them and my wife would kill me for losing hers. She gets mad on a reformat after a crash, but understands. This would be considered non-essential. Help, guys..... Brian

No. You can transfer your shortcuts to firefox, and if anything didn't transition, you could still use IE for that.

Cool, good to hear. Right now I'm messing around with the IE8 beta. It seems to be better than 7. I'm able to upload some photos now and I'm gonna try and embed a YouTube vid in the Fifa forums. That's all that really has me frustrated with IE. Thank again, Brian

Just download it and try it out.

Though once you try it, you'll never go back. Also check out all the great plugins at mozilla.com that they have for FF.

Re: Should I switch to Firefox?

                Here's the deal.

A webbrowser is just a program that lets you look at internet pages... It's really not anything all that special. You can download all the webbrowsers you want, if you want to have that many.

So give it a shot, as you're already doing, and if you don't like it - then all you have to do is either stop clicking on it, and click on IE instead - or uninstall it.

Installing it has 0 effect on IE. The two programs have nothing to do with each other - they just perform the same task. However, FF can import saved information from IE if it wants - but that doesn't effect IE in any way, it just copies the saved information over.

Re: Should I switch to Firefox?

I have both FF3 and IE8 beta running on the old PC now. I have to say that IE8 is pretty sweet. I do like FF, though. I'll just switch back and forth. And decide who wins. I will say that there is some graphical degradation on this site when I use FF. I use SciFi VB. on both and the site looks a lot sharper running IE8. But I'm liking some of the layout for FF better. And I finally figured out what I was doing wrong trying to embed YouTube vids! That's what I really wanted..... But I'm gonna figure out what works best for each site and use the appropriate browser. I learned quite a bit today. Sad thing is I build PC's for people and can't even figure out a lot of the software stuff. But I'm learning. Thanks guys, Brian

Do you have to buy adblock or is it a free program?

As an SIS-IT major and web developer in college, for the love of God please, PLEASE switch to Firefox. IE8 is terrible!

Adblock and mouse gestures alone are enough to make me never leave FF.
