    Appaloosa

Opens wide October 3rd. It gets a 70 on the Tomatometer. It's got my interest because of at least one critic's comparison with the 1959 western Warlock, which is my all time favorite.

just saw the preview for this the other day...personally, i like movies like this so i'm looking forward to seeing it. i don't care about the reviews because, quite frankly, most movies of this genre don't get good ratings anyway...

Good point. I agree. Rolling Stone gives it 3.5 stars out of 4 and Roger Ebert calls it a "wonderful western".

          Re: Appaloosa

I haven't really seen a good western in awhile. Closest thing I've seen recently was Unforgiven which was on TNT or something. Love Unforgiven.

Will be checking this one out.

I thought the 3:10 to Yuma remake was pretty good, especially Ben Foster. The Proposition was fantastic, as well.

3:10 to Yuma was fan-****ing-tastic so if Appaloosa is anywhere near that, I'll be thrilled.

loved 3:10 to yuma...not quite the same, but the assassination of jessie james was quality as well.

ed harris looks cool in the previews i've seen thus far.

What's the last serious western to get bad reviews? I can't think of one since "The Quick and the Dead."

For reference, a western with Ashton Kutcher, James Van Der Beek, and Usher is not a serious western.

                  Neither is this:

Edit: Oh yeah, and I want to see this movie.

Looking forward to this. 3:10 was my favorite movie of last year, and the Proposition was damn good as well. Hopefully this will continue the recent trend of good westerns.

I didn't know they considered The Quick and the Dead a serious western.

I think it tried to be...while I don't believe that those others did.

I'm looking forward to this now that I hear it's compared to WARLOCK which I saw a month or so ago and is a great film. Hopefully this will be a good western. Ed Harris tends to be in quality stuff.
