Gaming monitor - LCD tv or computer monitor?

I am looking to set up a room just for gaming. I already own a 46 inch Samsung 650 LCD which is an awesome tv, and it is in my family room hooked to cable and Blueray. I want to keep this set for tv/dvd watching.

I would love to get another Samsung set for gaming, but is it overkill? I mean why get a tv just for gaming? Am I better off just going with a good computer monitor for PS3 and Xbox360 gaming? I would be limited by size then, right?

Thanks for any thoughts and advice...

My advice would be to get what you can afford. I gamed on a 19" Samsung LCD monitor the last 2+ years and it was great. I recently won a 26" Vizio LCD in a raffle and turned that into my gaming TV and that's even better.

If you can afford an LCD TV, go that route. If not, a PC monitor offers a wonderful alternative.

Ditto. Get what you can afford. Might want to consider waiting for Black Friday.

I have used this monitor in the past for my Xbox and it looks freakin' killer plus it's a great computer monitor:

Costs about $400 at Best Buy or Circuit City for the 24" version and $300 for the 22" version. It has picture in picture and several different ways of connecting stuff such as HDMI and whatnot.

Check it out at Best Buy or Circuit City sometime..it's a great monitor. Also, you can buy a speaker bar for like $50 more and not have to fool around with a big speaker system if you just want to keep it simple. And the sound from the speaker bar is really good too.

Vizio's 26" VMM monitor is designed specifically for gaming and use as monitors. It has 3ms refresh rate and it's crazy clear. It's sweet, you should check it out!

I currently play my PS3 on an acer AL2223W (a 22'' monitor) at 720p (1080p is too big for the screen) and I love it. If obviously is limited as to what it offers, considering it isn't a TV, but for 250$, it was a great deal.

            Got it at newegg.

I have a 23" Samsung that doubles as both my Monitor and gaming TV. It saves space and I don't have to share it with the wife and kid all of the time. Cool thing is that it is just big enough that we can watch streaming movies off of Netflix or say something like Survivor off of CBS.com. I just wish that it had better speakers..... Brian

Yeah the same thing with mine is that I love it dearly, except for the terrible speakrs. I try connecting my speakers, but the plugs just won't agree with each other.
