I hope they really go all the way with the Green Lantern movie. It's more than just Jordan, you gotta have the Corps.

I must be getting old because from my childhood I remember reading about the Green Lantern as part of the DC universe and I can picture what he looks like but what was special about him. What powers did he have besides having a green costume.

Basically, a magic (power) ring whose strength is heightened by the wearer's willpower.

Should be some interesting special effects. If I remember correctly isn't the ring's effects neutralized by the color "YELLOW"?

According to wiki, that's no longer the case. The parasite that caused Hal to become Pallarax was the yellow impurity that made the rings vulnerable. Now, the experienced Corps members that can control their fear (the parasite feeds on it) can overcome that vulnerability. I would guess that the movie wouldn't go through all of that.

No way they cast JT. I actually think Reynolds would make a good Jordan, but since he is already Deadpool, I really think that leaves him out.
