    RIP Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal

Not really a big name...but was made famous by De Niro in "Casino"...one of my favorite movies of all time.

He helped make Vegas what it is today. Back in the day when he ran the Stardust he had the first sports book inside a casino, as well as allowed the first women blackjack dealers.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal is Nevada's most trusted source for local news, Las Vegas sports, business news, gaming news, entertainment news and more.

EDIT...It's been 25 years since he should have died in that botched car bomb assassination...I guess he got the last laugh on the mob.

Brutal final scene with Pesci and brother.

Loved Casino, and that final scene was EPIC in terms of brutality. Pesci, Stone and DeNiro should have won Oscars for their performances.

Still can't believe that Casino was not even nominated for a Best Picture oscar.

Probably more due to critics classifying it as Goodfellas in Las Vegas. Somewhat true as the style and narrative and Pesci's character did make it seem a bit of a rehash of Goodfellas. Great movie nonetheless but it did give me that deja vu feeling that I've seen this before, just with different characters.

Definitely some similarities with Goodfellas, including the "common actor" department. Joe Pesci, Robert Deniro, and Frank Vincent (Phil Leotardo-Sopranos) appeared in both. As a matter of fact Vincent was killed by Pesci (with help from Deniro) in Goodfellas, and killed Pesci in Casino (with help from some aluminum bat wielding thugs). Still should have bumped "Sense & Sensibility" for a nom.
