For me it is the original Halloween, just a classic.

Re: Favorite Scary Movie?
Either I have low standards or other movies just didn't scare me much, but the only movie that ever really scared was The Ring. Don't really know if it's my favorite scary movie... then again, I've never really been afraid of other movies before, so I don't know if others count.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -
Re: Favorite Scary Movie?
I never liked The Ring...that whole thing with the horses...just lame to me, I never even understood how they put that together. I've seen it a couple of times and just get bored or something.
Scream was pretty crazy to me when it came out. Probably the first movie with a twist that I can remember.
Chain Saw Massacre got me also when it first came out. Looking back neither of those are very good to me.Comment

Re: Favorite Scary Movie?
Gore does not equal scary.
The Haunting is possibly one of the best scary movies of all time, zero gore. Texas Chainsaw Massacre doesn't have a drop of blood in it. Stuff like that. Scary movies are good because how well they are shot and the imagery.Comment

Didn't say it does... it was just interesting for him to make that comparison with what he's seen back then and looking back at it now; didn't have to do with how scary it was.

Like I said above... plus I'm still not sure what the OP meant... scariest movie ever, favorite movie that's categorized as a "scary" movie, or favorite movie that you've been scared by? If either the first or third, my only answer can be The Ring, because that's all that has legitimately scared me. If it's the middle, I still don't know. My ***** girl friends say Saw scares them, so I guess that's my answer for the middle one.
I also didn't want to imply that gore doesn't equal scary. Just saying in general.Comment

Re: Favorite Scary Movie?
Gotcha, guess you didn't quote me so I suppose that makes sense, ha!
But you're right. In fact, sometimes movies that focus more on blood will focus less on tension, meaning gory movies may actually be less scary.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
